This comes into the same bracket as banning hot cross buns, or toy pigs, or advent calendars, or calling christmas winter break and a raft of other daftness, which only succeeds in alienating the average citizen from his islamic neighbours. I'm sure something like this could be taken on a one-to-one politeness level. ("Does this bother you? Yes it does a bit. Ok I'll take it elsewhere if its a problem.. etc") Forcing people to do it will simply breed resentment. (Already I have the urge to eat great amounts near a mosque, just on principle.) Ramadan is a muslim festival, celebrated by muslims. It should not be forced upon people who are not.
The reason people take working lunches is because they have work to do that they wish to complete. In our overworked NHS, this is probably the last thing they need.

Seems tolerance and political correctness need to start going back in the other direction to even out again. The politeness approach is much mor civil and befitting us as humans.

Ironically enough, a recent survey said:
Half of workers would like to see a return of the tea trolley, replacing vending machines. A third said they miss subsidised canteens, and half again hate eating lunch at desks, and wish to return to more formal lunch "hours", whilst a third despise open plan offices. So it follows that if they took THIS information as a basis for office reorganisation, then Muslims would not have to share open plan offices with eaters anyway, as they would all be on their lunch in the canteen! Politeness would have its victory.
But no.. its not about what workers want, its all about the muslims.. AGAIN.

No they havent.
go back and re-read the article slowly. It says 'advice' has been issued, thats not the same as 'banning' something. Nowhere does it mention banning.
It was probably just one of those leaflets that turn up with your pay-slip & most people dont even bother reading anyway.
Thats a straight cut n paste from the opening lines of the article itself. Also incidentally the header of the article in its paper format as well.
