This topic is offensive and racist.
It's just a joke dude. Hell we should be able to make light hearted jokes about other races too. The more people can laugh at ourselves and each other and maintain a light hearted attitude, I think it's a good way if anything of breaking down walls. It's just joking humor.
But there is a double standard because if someone made a thread joking about black people then no one would think it is funny. Why should it be okay to bash and mock people who are white?
Chris Rock and others make jokes about black people everyday and people laugh. Mencia does the same with Mexicans. I think the rule is if you make it about your own people, then it is less offensive or something like that. the person who made the blog is white.
There is no "your people" or "my people", There is only one race, and saying its okay for people to make fun of "their own kind" is divisive and it promotes racism. Instead of saying there is "my kind" and "your kind" why not unite everyone instead?
*sigh* Im not trying to be devisive. I think you're reading into my comment too much. It's just common sense that you wouldnt get as mad if a white person called you a racial slur as an Asian or someone else. Another example would be, is it more offensive if your brother or sister called your mom a b*tch in your presence, or your best friend? It may be less offensive for your siblings to because this is their mom and will be for the rest of their lives, so at some point they will reconcile and they see her as a mom and this is just something she did. A friend however, may rarely see your mom, and by calling her a name he is saying all she is inside is a b.
Of course there is no such thing as race, but you're only dividing yourself if you really want to. Yes, the phrase "my or your people" can be divisive (if you take it that way, you really dont need to if you dont want to) and perhaps it was a poor choice of words on my part. Suppose I said, "if the person was from the same ethnic group as you."?
I think it is okay for people to make fun of themselves. It is completely up to the viewer if he or she takes it as racially divisive or uses it agaisnt that person in some way. It's up to you how you view things. You can choose to view it as a joke, or view it as "yeah all thse people DO act like that!", or view it as racially divisive. You dont have to let things pull you apart from your friends.
If someone who isnt white were to read that blog and say "this is why i dont like whites," then he or she, aside from being a dumbass, would should their complete ineptitude of separating observations from generalizations about a culture. He or she shows a lack of logical thinking. I've seen people use phrases or comments from The Chappelle Show and say, "yeah even dave chappelle thinks black people are so-and-so." and use that as a reason to justify prejudice. That's just stupid. If a person cannot separate a joke and a prejudiced belief, then he or she needs a reality check.
