Frankly, if you don't disagree with other Christians in some way, you're probably not very serious in your faith. Anyone who truly contemplates their faith will develop their own unique beliefs. So long as you don't disagree on the major points (Jesus is God, all have sinned and need grace, Jesus died to give that grace to the world, etcetera.) I don't think it really matters.

Yes!! !! ! I totally agree!! !! ! That is what I kept trying to tell people in my Bible study last year. Now I co-lead it and am having my first leadership role on Wendsday. :D :D

Grievious, you changed your avie! Yeah, I recently got confirmed, and my favourite version? The little red Gideons NT I got @ school. It's NIV, I think. To be honest, I'm quite offended @ the topic above. The Jews/Jesus one. Look at other parts of the Bible! The proof's there! "This is my son, in whom I am well pleased."

As for that thread, I've made my points and don't know if I can respond without getting extremely heated with people, so I figure it's better to abandon anyways. ;)

Soma, did they give you one of the little, orange New Testaments with Psalms and Proverbs, too? I'm pretty sure these are NIV, as well. :)

Agreed. I just wanted to ask this as I love getting feedback on this question. What do you guys think that heaven will be like? Personally, I hope to have a massive library in my mansion. The one I always picture is the one from Beauty and the Beast, lol. I hope to have lots of marble and wood in my mansion too. There was a mathematical calculation done in Revelation Unveiled (personally one of my favorite books) that stated that the new Jerusalem will be vast enough for one block per person. Just thinking of having a living space all for me the size of a city block is soooo exciting as I tend to feel very crowded most of the time. God is Good! What about you guys? I would love to hear your thoughts on what heaven will be like! :D

I want my chunk of heaven to be a ranch. The house would be little except for the libary which I also am in love with the one from beauty and the beast. I want a lot of dogs and horses and perfect weather to ride for miles without seeing another building or person Just me and the animals.

I have a question should we use the Divine Name of God: Jehovah or Yahweh.

I would like honest answers please.

Throughout the Bible God uses many names for himself, each with a different meaning, each highlighting different aspects of his character. If God himself uses multiple names to refer to himself, how can we possibly claim it wrong to use names other than Jehovah or Yahweh.

I personally have not seen anything that would preclude using them. I think that it is perfectly permissible.

I completely agree that we may call Him whatever we wich, but God comes naturally to me.

No! I didn't get one of those orange bibles, but my red one ("It's red to be READ!" ) has psalms and proverbs at the back. I have one in my pencil case, people drop them all the time, and I just tend to collect 'em, and give them a good home-my locker. :D

I have several of NIV type and keep them on a bookshelf at home. By the way, has anyome read the curious incident of the dog in the nightime? Great book.

I plan on buying the NIV Study Bible, because I lost my last two and still haven't replaced them.

Cool, it's nice to see a Christian thread.

I agree, Namiko, witnessing doesn't come easy to me either, and I agree with your method, using your life as a witness.

re the translations, KJV is used where I go to church, but I have both an NIV and a NKJV at home. I sorta switch around between versions. There's also a NLT in the house too, and The Book, though I don't read those as much.
