Good point. How about 24 hours of rain and then all the sewers back up?

after 2 hours of rain, there's pretty nasty mudslides. how about a gradual workup to being able to accept any steady flow of rain instead? that'd be a miracle enough for this desert.

Anything reasonable! Steady drizzle that ends the drought - I'll go along with that.

Once, a man asked Ja'far Al-Sadiq (the sixth Shi'a Imam) to show him what God looks like. He told the man to stare at the Sun. The man could not, and exclaimed that the Sun blinded him. To that, Ja'far replied "How can you see the creator when you can't see the created"?

Proving or disproving the existence of God is not possible.

that dumbass shouldn't have stared at the sun without the proper means of observing it.

it's just a folksy tale to appeal to the more common people who can't appreciate the universe for what it is.

If Fnord doesn't experience some sort of personal enlightenment due to this experiment does that,in turn, mean god doesn't exist?

psh, like as if religious people would adhere to logic.

they'll simply jump to the most illogical conclusion instead: he's possessed by a demon and therefore must have an exorcism performed by an expert.

It means only that there is insufficent material evidence to support a conversion of belief towards the God of the Bible.

I don't like to use the term "God" because it conjures up images of an old man in the sky with a ruler. I prefer to say Infinite Intelligence. We all have our different beliefs about this so it's important to use your own image of God if you want to do this experiment.

Fnord wants proof that God exists. I am curious to see what will happen if the people of faith give it a try. It sounds like a fun experiment to me and I wonder what will happen if we all pray at the same time for God to reveal himself to him.

I suggest we say a prayer at 11:11 for 7 days and 7 nights with the specific intention of giving Fnord spiritual enlightenment. I will need some feedback before we start to see who will be involved and maybe we can come up with a specific prayer. We'll also have to set a date to begin.

If Sand is willing to be involved in this, I want to include him and his wife as she is suffering from brain cancer.

Any thoughts, opinions?

Well the least you could so is PRAY to your God for her recovery and in particular if it happens instantaneously you just might win some converts.

ok, that makes more sense. i'm just trying to grasp the reasoning behind something i find to be kind of silly..if not completely illogical..

Irrational belief defies logic. Faith is irrational belief.

All other things being equal, destroying these crops the world over would almost certainly do more good than harm.

However, synthetics such as 3-methylfentanyl would take their place almost immediately.

My sleep patterns aren't normal.

Days are nights for me..

And nights are days.

Some of the more critcal issues we might have to face are..

Do we stop for a tea break.. ?

What about drugs.. ? ? ?

Just go by your own clock. This experiment is for Fnord. We can do some other experiments later. Let's try to keep this as simple as possible.
At 11:11 day and night we will pray for Fnord that God will reveal himself. Since this is such a personal matter, only he will be able to decipher if in fact anything did occur to change his mind about God being all illogical nonsense. Instead of praying for world peace and all those things that Fnord challenged the believers to do, lets just focus on him. He is just as important as any other issue.

So far it's just Accelerator, Fnord and myself. Are there any other volunteers?

3-methylfentanyl (aka 'China White') is many times more potent than heroin (which is ruinous to begin with)

Magnus,

I really think that if God can reveal Himself to humans, it would be unfair to ask Him to reveal Himself only to me, and not also to those people who can actually affect a positive change on the rest of the world, especially where His intervention is needed the most. Sorta like being offerred one wish - you gotta make it a good one!

But, it's your experiment, so it's your call. Good luck!

Fnord

We'll start the experiment on October 10 at 11:11am

Any other volunteers?

This experiment would seem to "if successful" add credit to the supposition of collective will. I am one to believe that thoughts do affect our reality. Considering that everything is connected, it seems to me impossible that thoughts do not effect reality. How to measure the qualative and quantative effects of thoughts however may be a difficult task.
