What my sincere wish for the US is a return to the values that founded it. A common tactic of the US government has been to denounce European governments as 'old fashioned' or 'senile with age'. However, the US is in fact one of the oldest if not the oldest continuous government. I remember Bush saying this about France, when in reality France's constitution is less then 60 years old and since the revolution they've had what, 5 republics? And I don't much like counting it but Vichy France brings it out to 6, plus the periods of time ruled by the Bourbons and the two Bonapartes... I think there needs to be some changes to the US system. Before anybody says it though, I also think Westminster democracy needs some change. In Canada we have a relatively new constitution but I think our government has too much bureaucracy and red tape. Considering Canada's population is one tenth that of the United States, I don't see why our government should employ almost the same amount of politicians and bureaucrats as the US.

I'm hardly an expert on royalty, but isn't there a law in the UK that forbids a royal from marrying a Catholic? Hardly sounds like royal power run amuck to me...;)

If they want to have a Queen, how does it hurt me? Although I've never been closer to one than the outside of Buckinham palace...;0

We do all right, but losing the Electoral College (which was put in precisely because the Founding Fathers don't trust the mobile vulgis..

Actually the Presidential race has elected the loser of the popular vote 3 times, though the other one was back in the mid-19th century. What it taught me was that yes, Virginia, your vote can count. A lot...

For a tyrant I'd rather have Tin Lizzy than king George. shes done far less damage in 50 years than bush has done in 8.
