Uhh, you are aware that Colbert is a parody, right? He's not actually a conservative commentator, he just plays one on TV...

Some of his jokes kind of give him away on his own leanings. Then again, a comedian, what's there to be offended by - Glenn Beck would probably be more liked even if he kept his views under wraps and hidden between punchlines.

If I remember correctly, Colbert sort of embarrassed himself at a press dinner when he launched a vicious personal attack on president Bush, who was in attendance at the time. The problem wasn't that he was making fun of W, but that it was obviously personal for him, and more importantly, it wasn't funny. Bush himself seemed kind of bemused, but other members of the press lit into Colbert pretty good afterwords, since it was a pretty classless thing to do. It kind of reminded me of when Michael Moore gave his ridiculous acceptance speech for his Bowling for Columbine Oscar, and was booed off the stage by a crowd of Hollywood liberals that probably agreed with him. It just wasn't the time and place for a screed, and the crowd let him know in no uncertain terms. I of course would like to see that Oscar stripped from him on the grounds that BFC was so fictional as to not be a documentary, but now I'm the one being naive.

BTW, I wonder how box office numbers were for Sicko, I saw Yahoo gave it great reviews. Superior health care for all in Cuba, who would have guessed.

Yeah, Sicko was pretty full of distortions and lies. A left-wing friend forced me to watch it. Moore committed multiple felonies during that film's production; I find it odd that he has never been prosecuted for them.

That's actually the plan. To give credit where credit is due, ToadOfSteel is responsible for the Photoshop of Chever Guevara, and Phagocyte instigated the avatar switch today.

It was a toss up for me whether to do the "V" edit or put him on a cross with the caption "He was banned for our sins" (or was it by Sins?), but the editing would have been harder.

That's the beauty of being that sort of public icon; they really do anything without it playing into his favor.

I think that the government simply realized that prosecuting Michael Moore for these "felonies" would only serve to bring more attention to our broken health care system and to our ridiculous laws, and decided that it would be better just to leave him well enough alone. The government probably couldn't even get away with assassinating him without making the government look bad.

I'd volunteer to carry that out. I get exited just thinking about all the fun ways ( for me) that it could be done.
Hell, I might even do it for free. :D

The only right-wing humor I can stand is South Park, and that's because they make fun of everybody.

Well, Canada will just have to extradite Mr. Moore. It will serve to showcase further the injustice inherent in the US medical industry.

I'm sure that this wasn't the first death threat directed by a right-wing extremist against Mr. Moore. This damned country is getting more and more dangerous every day.

Whether it's Limbaugh or Beck on the right or Olbermann and Maddow on the left, the sad fact is there isn't a show that allows us to think for ourselves.
