You ask people to share videos, but then you don't even watch the ones that you don't agree with and at the same time claim you are open-minded. Such hypocrisy.

You say I am free to share videos in the same comment you told me you didn't even watch the one I already shared.

And she wasn't even talking about the conservative right, she was talking about the extreme right wing. She has videos about the extreme left, too. You would know that if you actually gave her video a chance.

 "Share political videos that I won't watch unless I think beforehand that I will agree with it"

I'm sure you like to paint me as your enemy, who knows why that is? I guess because you disagree with me. There are two forms of intelligence(that I know of), there is critical thinking and books smarts. Book smarts without the ability to think critically is fairly useless. I stop listening when I see radical conclusions being drawn, at that point...why even bother? Do you read anything you come across regardless of content(Like this person really has no idea what they are talking about). I'm not that open minded, I will not listen to 30 minutes worth of material from the person that's trying to tell me that earth is flat. I gave both of them a chance, even after radical conclusions were made, both of them were fairly long useless pieces of information. So how do you calculate that mean "I won't watch unless I think beforehand that I will agree with it". Sorry I don't like listening to people who write or produce material worthy of a trashcan. I don't hate you, I'm sorry you feel the need to hate me.

With my non-school education I know a fair amount about a lot of things, programming, music(I play a guitar), how to build swimming pools(Which one needs to know how to 'think outside of the box' to be successful at, I know a decent bit about particle physics focusing on the electromagnetic force, space exploration, evolution...clearly I'm not stupid. Nice play by the way, focusing on the fact that I'm poor and couldn't afford a good education, a lot of your attacks seem to be very mean. Sorry you feel the need to be that way.

In fact, by using critical thinking I found a way to put a hole in flat earth theory having a discussion with a mathematician. He said there was no way to do so, i proved him wrong within a few sentences and he gave me props for being intelligent.

Very predictable, yes. So discussion with you is indeed pointless because anyone who disagrees with you or wants you to consider other viewpoints "hates you". OK then, it was worth a try I guess. Enjoy your small-mindedness.

BTW if you think a philosophy doctorate program doesn't teach or focus on critical thinking...

Also, you're the one who brings up education levels and then gets upset if someone talks about education levels and how they can effect perception and the ability to take in new information. Your threads are full of hypocrisy, man.

Ok kara, whatever you say. I tell people about my education because I'm honest.

the edit you missed...

By the way, I never stated philosophy doesn't involve critical thinking, please point out my words that gave you that impression.

I started to watch the video on Jordan Petterson, but gave up after about six minutes. It was just too frustrating to watch! First, the commentator gets it wrong right out of the gate, stating the JP rose to prominence opposing a Canadian bill that was intended to protect the rights of transgender people. No mention of why he opposed it, which is very important. He opposed it because the law would mandate that transgender people are to be referred to by a specific set of gender pronouns. He opposed it on the grounds it was an assault of free speech. Intellectually disingenuous from the start. It only gets worse from there.

Short soundbites from JP taken out context abound, after that. A waste of time!

I have my issues with JP, but I agrees with his opposition to the proposed bill, now a law.

The bill was an anti-discrimination bill, JP is the one claiming it is a free speech issue. We have laws against hate speech and discrimination in Canada, we're not so gung-ho about free speech as Americans so ours has more limits and we're cool with that. You can't discriminate against people and claim it is your right to do so under the free speech clause in the Charter in Canadian law, which is why Peterson isn't getting much support except from the right-wing fringe for his claim the bill is "anti-free speech".

I'm not surprised the claim to open-mindedness is hypocritical in so many here that won't even give consideration to facts that challenge their opinions. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Also, to be fair to Contrapoints: her Jordan Peterson video is hilarious, whatever you think of him and his politics. You can tell she not only puts a lot of effort into researching the subjects of her videos, but she puts a lot of effort into their production design as well.

And her nails are always perfect. I want to steal whoever is her manicurist.

Apparently you can't even publish any research that may conflict with non-factual ideologies in Canada, facts don't matter, peoples opinions are more valid than scientific evidence. Research that could prove one's beliefs wrong are a big no, no. The benefits of policed speech.

Got any evidence to support these claims?

EDIT: there are several assertions made here that have no supporting evidence.

An example of the extent that you have to go to in Canada to have your speech curtailed by the government:

CBC - Federal government issues permanent postal ban on hate speech publication

I've given quite a lot of consideration to all opinions. Here's one website I recently came across regarding this law:

http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/questions-and- ... d-pronouns

This sentence is a little concerning: The law recognizes that everyone has the right to self-identify their identity and that "misgendering" is a form of discrimination.

What does that mean, exactly? Could a person be held legally accountable for not referring to a transgender persons by the pronouns they prefer? It does seem to be a free-speech issue to me.

This kind of social engineering via legislation is something I don't agree with at all. I think Dr. Peterson makes some very valid points.
