Okay, this is a general warning that there are no personal attacks allowed. Read it for yourself in the TOS again if you doubt what I'm saying. It's not cool to cut other people down for what they believe.

here's a question about that and i don't mean it in a challenging way or anything...i just kinda mean it in general.....what if you challenege religious people on an emperical nature? does that mean that you aren't playing fair because you're asking for facts that aren't there? i mean it seriously too because i don't get why people would just make such a jump to believe such things without being conditioned to believe it....i mean i was conditioned in that way and i was lucky enough to find the right articles, the right poetry, and the right people to point out fallacies before i got to the point of beyond questioning whether it was right or just something to believe in. am i putting too much stock in the emperical? are others not putting enough? i feel my points on god and the human interpretation of hell are very valid points and i feel a lot of times i'm pressured into saying there's no god not by the atheists but instead by those who believe becaues they're simply following a believe instead of actively participating in it and looking to bring unity and love together. but then again, that could just be what i'm seeing from my vantage point.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not so sure that Namiko was warning you, specifically. (more likely that incorrigable antagonist, Eamonn) I would love to enlighten you on why I am a Christian but I don't have the time at this very moment. It is a lengthy discussion. I will tell you this, though. I do not simply believe because I've been brought up to believe. I believe because I have evidently been given the gift of salvation and faith and been given eyes to see and ears to hear. (that's my religious answer to you) What impressed me most were the evidences for the accuracy and trustworthiness of the Bible; texual criticism. And isn't it curious how a small sect from Jerusalem in the first century came up with a religion that has spread so far and lasted so long? I mean, why should Americans care in the 21st century about a Jewish rabbi and his death? Very intriguing. It's at least worth looking into.

ah, so a pagan, then, presumably. that's what the celts were. :)

However at the time of the celts the 'modern' religions of christianity and so forth were not as widely 'accepted' (sorry can't think of a better word at the moment) so the celtic woships were more widely practiced.

If you don't mind me asking what form of celtic religion do you follow?

Oh you want to play word games then? How about a sparing match? A sword fight sounds about right. What size of clothing do you wear? Let me see if I can find a fencing outfit for you and let's duel it out! This time and maybe every time I'll strike you down! That's if I can find you. Enough of your wise butt remarks. I really serious can go on and on and on about this until we both are dead and barried in our graves. You want some of me?

Im undefeated in bare knuckle boxing. we can have a go at that but im not travelling over the other side of the atlantic to beat up an internet geek who's mum will probably just tell me is not in and she'll probably give me a sob story about you being bullied in school and how it has ended in you writing cheques that you cant cash. So im afraid that in the unlikely event that your for real, youll need to travel over here.

Do you actually have something to say to me? Are you just so chicken to face me with a PM? Or maybe a email? Deleted you PM to me anyway. Knuckle boxing is just so lame don't you think. You chose your own weapon and I'll chose mine! If you want to hurt me why don't you use harsher words I can hold them all in. Might as well you give up first I'm not budging. I'm not moving an inch. You might give in before I do. So I'll just laugh for now.

I have no religion.
I don't believe there is a great being somewhere that controls everything.

Look Bart, God doesn't have any power hanging over you and he's not some child with a sledge hammer who will knock everyone down if people go the wrong way. Have you ever thought about why is there a such thing as death and dieing?

The armour of God is our sure, steadfast defence against the attacks we're encountering as Christians on this forum.

Ephesians 6:10-18.

Eamonn, debates aren't as important as eternity. You are not winning anyways, so don't flatter yourself. Where did you get all of your self-confidence? or is it arrogance? You are certainly a prime example. A great case study. I'll give a 10 for amusement value. (and I mean that from the bottom of my little, sanctified heart)

I've thought about it. Death occurs due to accident, predation, disease, failure to acquire sufficient resources for life (starvation, dehydration) and cumulative, irrepairable, age-related damage for which the only practical solution is to rebuild the organism from scratch (commonly known as 'reproduction'), plus a few other things along the same lines.

Do you think there's some deeper metaphysical reason for death?

You christrians do go on a bit here but eternity is an exageration. Besides i value quantity over quality and that's why i think the atheists are owning all these debates. Granted, delirium is a powerful force but im hopeful that logic will overcome it in the end.

Well there's two things I can bring up. Let's see...well there is that one belief which I think is true, is that everything even death has a purpose. Like being born has a purpose. The ohter one is well along the same lines which I don't really know why I brought up a second one. I really hadn't thought about death in a different really deeper than that. Hmm maybe I'll do some research into that. That's if I can put it among one of my obessions list of things to do.
