Meanwhile, a comical interlude: the Goodies try to make 3 separate films each, with bizarre results.

The Goodies strike again.

Reminded me a bit a Gunmen of the Apocalyse, the Red Dwarf episode.

Also, nice touch when Ragtime whacked Bill with the Ten Commandments....

I love when Bill Oddie comes onto screen, you think it's a B&W film, and there's all the piano music in silent films, then he jumps and runs right into Tim's Samson set and nearly gets shot by Gareme...

And why was Tim fighting a lion if it was meant to be Samson? Weren't Samson & Delilah Greek or something?

Israelite. It was from the Bible. And I think Samson proved his strength (which came from his uncut hair, hence Delilah's shears) by killing a lion.

Samson was an Israelite, Delilah was a Philistine, the Israelites' sworn enemies. It was kind of a Romeo and Juliet story... except Juliet ended up stabbing Romeo in the back.

But Samson got even, by giving a command performance that literally brought the house down...

I remember a Bible record I had when I was a kid. Nice and poetic, but I only remember these four concluding lines, read thunderously by the voice of Alexander Scourby:
...
No refuge to be found!
He tore apart the lion --
And threw it
On the ground.

I went "WOW!! !!" 8O

Indeed, a more realistic ending... continue...

No doubt about it.

He took the Nazarite vow, which is why he didn't cut his hair, in addition to many other requirements.
The story shows, as do many other accounts through history, that the undoings of the world's most powerful men are usually brought about by weakness toward women.

And here's some linguistic trivia on the subject: "Philistine" = "Palestine". It's the same word, from Greek to Latin, and was brought about and issued as a new name for part of the land of Israel by Emperor Hadrian in 135 AD as an insult to the Jews. He liked the idea of using the name of Israel's archenemy.

What would be the reaction if you go saying that women are inferior than men, and etc, here on WP you would have a strong reaction from women calling you "mysogynist" just as well others might call you "homophobic", especially when you come up with arguments like no such good thing for society.

That's not a fair comparison, because conservative Christians (generally speaking) do not believe that homosexuals are inferior.

I think the word "homophobe" is improperly used 99% of the time. It should not be a tool for silencing others or for perpetuating logical fallacies, but all too often that is precisely what occurs. It is one of those one-liners that prevent further dialogue.

well, that is when I got a little confused before and probably I still do a little, when I wonder where the terms homophobe and mysoginist actually fit, in a real objective view. I didn't think of this as homophobia at first , just people with misconceptions and ignorance, which I believe it is. But then I later saw the following thing, according to the definition of homophobia, apart from violence and hate, it is also discrimination and prejudice, so taking that in to account it could mean that it can also be considered as homophobia, wouldn't it?

If anybody truly feels that it is damaging to listen to contrary opinions, it is probably best that such an individual avoid debate forums.

Exactly, and there are people like that, and never cared of discussing it on this forum, and that is a wise and excellent choice for them, because only would lead to frustration and even depression, so it is the BEST thing to avoid this. Although a few of them have been here debating this, with no pretty result at all, it's a sad thing.

Of course. A finely upholstered wench for evening relaxation. And what's a good knight to do without a castle?
