Words and NATO art 5 are just words and paper but currently attacking Poland would mean attacking US Army - and that is something entirely different.

Russian decision-making system is crazy enough for us to need a plan for any scenario. No panic. Just a plan. I'm sure there are several being worked on in NATO headquarters.

And that is one of the main reasons why the US has troops stationed in Poland and many other threatened areas around the world. Of course, it is also to act as a quick reaction force to delay an invasion to try to give time for more troops to arive.

War is a game played by crazies in which only people that lose ,are those that are not ogliarchs and their likes .
If Putin has a finger on a nuke button, and we choose to respond .in kind there will be no winners…. Ever . :ninja:
Am afraid the thoughts are to try to contain a nuclear interaction. Which the invading country will have no respect for
Anything or anyone .So a strategic strike might be the best answer BUT the entire region will become uninhabitable. And Any where ever the wind blows . So to engage as a retaliatory method Nuclear weapons would poison the atmosphere :skull: . So by what method would you be able to retaliate?
Meanwhile all the crazies have built huge bunkers for themselves and the upper eschelon and politicniks. So they will
Not feel the effects of War . On both sides. USA and Russia. And the survivors will be the same monsters .

Quite a record of "interesting" conspiracies.

This war is between Russia and Ukraine, not between USA and Germany, if anyone did not notice it. USA takes a clear side, Germany is torn between economical self-interest, bancrupcy of their previous policies and both internal and international pressures - but neither is a fighting side themself. Especially Germany is not.

Nord Streams were commercially inactive for months (NS2 was not even finished and lost all funding after Feb 24) and Germany already signed other contracts, so sabotaging these streams now (whoever did it) does not make much of a practical difference here. The most gain would be for those who would benefit from a conflict between Germany and USA... let me guess who it is :chin:

Another question is: Why does Russia keep pumping gas into the damaged pipes? Any operator in such a situation would cut supply, for obvious reasons. NS2 had no reason to have gas at all. But they keep pumping gas there - rendering parts of Baltic unnavigable.

Poor Baltic, by the way. Wars make it more and more of an ecological disaster

I think you've cracked the case Magz. Nord Stream 2 was obviously the most expensive plot in human history to mine a sea lane.

The incident happened in shallow waters so any Navy diver could have gone down there and done it quite easily.

Most likely explanation someone or country that doesn’t want Germany buying Russian gas ever.

Anyone with non-zero special forces could have done it. It could be USA, it could be Russia (to feed hostility between USA and Germany), it could be some smaller entity, it could be some Big Money playing with natural gas prices... or it could have been a genuine disastrous malfunction with snowball effect (blast wave in water is pretty destructive, as it was in Super Kamiokande in 2001).

It's unlikely this blast changes much about the war, though.

Russia to formally annex four more areas of Ukraine

The exercise began across 15% of Ukraine last Friday with only a few days' notice. Russian state media argued that the use of armed guards was for security purposes, but it was clear that it had the added effect of intimidating residents.

"You have to answer verbally and the soldier marks the answer on the sheet and keeps it," one woman in Enerhodar told the BBC.

Russia does not fully control any of the four regions it has decided to annex. Although most of Luhansk remains in Russian hands, Moscow only controls 60% of Donetsk.

Maybe Belarus, which is currently practically occupied by Russia... but no, I don't think so. They don't want to become annexed themselves.
AFAIK, even Russia's "friends" like China and Central Asian republics won't back them on this - they know it could some day happen to them...
