If that kind of stuff stays ongoing, many good members who like the forum precisely because it's one of the few that won't tolerate it, leave. And the forum will just become another pile of trolls and insults.
Yeah, but when a forum is created with the express purpose of discussing politics, philosophy, and religion it naturally baits uncivil discourse even if that was not the intent when the forum was created. In real life, politics and religion are two of the topics to always avoid for those who want to avoid conflict. Is it possible to have consistently civil conduct with topics like this? Yes, but unlikely enough to consider it impossible for all practical purposes.
Just sayin...
I'd be curious to know why you're even asking someone that you've called a "troll" twice in previous threads. If you're so convinced that I'm a "troll", should anything I say surprise you?
That aside, refer to my latest reply to 100000fireflies.

Maybe I wasn't clear. It's a forum that by its heading discusses topics best avoided genteel discourse. You can only expect so much. If you're sensitive learn to put your heart on a shelf.
i think, as we're adults, there is and can be a middle ground in such topics. it doesn't have to be an all-out insult slam fest, put your heart on a shelf, say whatever you want whenever you want and everyone else can suck it; nor everyone drinks tea with pinkies up and eats crumpets. and i think, though it's not easy, this forum has done a far better job of maintaining that balance than many others.

No, toxic would be better described as something you ingest or inhale that will make you sick and/or kill you. Calling words toxic is a bit of a stretch.
toxicity as referring to damaging to/measurably adversely impacting the entire organism - as in, here, it's not just what one person says to another and that's that, but a spiral effect happens and everyone starts misreading posts/taking offense that wasn't meant/responding harshly and so it spins, all while getting more and more upset. environments can be toxic.

i don't know what you don't understand so i have no way to reword that wouldn't just be repeating. so, i'll just leave that one. i'm going to sign off this thread anyway as i think it's past-dead.

Your use of "can be" and "doesnt have to be" tells me you didn't quite get what I was saying. At this point I can see you're not going to get it so I'll stop here.

My vanity wouldn't allow that kind of toxicity to affect my "organism". Guess I was blessed with "so what?" and "man up" genes.

I gave this thread a grim prognosis from the beginning and started cutting the boards for the coffin after the first few pages.

Seeing as this thread has strayed waaay off topic and has largely degenerated into bickering, it's being locked.
