If they were more honest they'd have stuck with Conservative Reform Alliance Party, the acronym is a fair description of what they stand for.

It baffles me to wonder what some people are thinking when they vote

It's almost as if they've not thought for a single second about the fact that politics actually affects their lives and its not just something that happens to other people

I struggle to grapple with it

I think when it comes to voting people are doing more feeling than thinking.

I can only hope the Canadian Tories follow their British counterparts.

In the British press people keep talking about the Canadian Tories being reduced to 2 seats in 1993 as a parallel for what's happening here.

I take it then that even that wasn't a true 'extinction' event?

They never really recovered and merged with the Canadian Reform Conservative Alliance, which was what the Reform Party had renamed itself to.

The current Conservative Party is more directly descended from the Reform Party but the merger allowed the Reform Party to inherit the Tories history.

Ah, I see. Pretty much what Farage has planned then (his party also called Reform). There are no new ideas.

Apparently Channel 4 news at 7pm have some dirt on Farage and his racist friends.

What gets me is these people who I keep hearing on the news saying things like: I don't know who to vote for so I'm not voting

I mean come on; you don't need to know much about politics to take a look at your own life and decide what's best for yourself

Imo the Tory party isn't the Tory party anymore. They've totally lost their way

And Starmer is just moving into that gap that the Tories have left. Imo he's not really a labour politician, he's too central. The only thing he's got going for him in my view is that he's more compassionate than Sunak and that lot but whether that's just an act or not is yet to be seen. I'm voting Labour because I believe in Angela Rayner. She's my only light in this political fog

Our local Labour candidate is a bit of a lefty who has somehow survived the Starmerite purges, so I'm happy to vote for her. Despite my reservations about the current state of the Labour party, I still think they are more honest, competant and principled than the Conservatives. (Faint praise indeed....) I really do think the surviving old-school Conservative voters are voting for what their party was before Margaret Thatcher turned up. Random acts of neoliberal kleptocracy is not "conservative" in my book.

I hate both Labour and conservatives but seeing Labour will win in my location anyway, I'll be voting for leader of the opposition this year and Farage will be far more competent in that job role than anyone in the Conservatives.

What's Farage's record in government?

Answer: zilch. Nothing. He's never run anything in his life. Just because he's a good speaker doesn't mean he could run a government.

That's beside the whole principle of being leader of the opposition and indeed democracy...........

8O

Wow!

That rivals Nixon's "Committee to REElect the President" in "truth in advertising".
