Something weird is going on around Kherson, lots of conflicting information from both sides... Ukrainians claim they are doing something "requiring information silence", while Russians are giving plenty of conflicting information.
My guess is that Russians are trying to save their face when losing Kherson - they got orders to fight to the last soldier but it just does not make sense, so they're making a show for Putin and others on Kremlin who have big dreams and no idea about what is actually possible.
The Russian commander has indicated that they will be evacuating Kherson.
The Ukrainians are concerned it may be a trap.
Americans (ISW) believe it's not literally trap but rather attempts to slow down Ukrainians so Russians can evacuate in relative order.
In any case, mines and small traps everywhere are to be expected.
The tactics of cutting out supply lines to force Russians to withdraw has previously worked around Kyiv and in Snake Island. It's slow but less risky than direct fights. Saves your own supplies and men better, especially against forces bigger than yours.
But it looks like little will remain of Kherson to liberate
Meh, we've rebuilt Warsaw after WWII, we'll rebuild Kherson and Mariupol.
