My opinion on cannabis is meaningless next to my moral stance that I have no right to tell people what they can and cannot put into their own bodies.

And by the way, my opinion is completely apathetic; I think no less of a cannabis user than I do of a person that indulges in alcoholic beverages. Whether or not it's completely harmless is still up for debate, but irregardless it's completely laughable next to the deaths from tobacco and alcohol. It's blatant hypocrisy.

I think that varies from person to person, for some people virtually anything can become a dangerous addiction, others seem to be able to do hard drugs at will with no addictive effects. I'm lucky, I seem pretty impervious to addiction, having tried most of the major drugs at least a few times and walking away.

Agreed, we are all different. I still believe that the current myth that cannabis is a soft drug needs to be addressed

I most certainly wouldn't say pot is any more dangerous than alcohol, and that's legal pretty much everywhere, and look how effective banning it was.

Agreed - I read somewhere that if alcohol was discovered today it would be banned immediately instead of banning it most countries put lots of resources into harm minimisation and educating the public on the benefits of moderation

I completely agree with the crux of your argument though, the current approach does nothing beyond making millions of people into criminals unnecessarily.

Thanks! its good not to be yelling at each other

don't forget the taxes the government earns on tobacco and alcohol, they number one why they turn a blind eye to it. Canabis may be prescribed by GPs in Europe now, for people with cancer of Alzheimer.

But basically a new campaign has started because some scientist came up with ghe result of research saying that cannabis if used frequently and daily might lead to psychosis, to which UK government said they were going to be tougher on it and increase punishment

Tell me that doesn't sound like a setup. All these surveys indicate that if anything marijuana use improves health then the UK government latches on to that one that gives them a chance to profit from hurting more people.
