Yes and I agreed with that. IMO Obama is a prime example of the wrong kind of Democrat namely a Socialist Progressive pretending to be one. The ACA wasn't affordable care, just a mandate to have health insurance.

he tried to steal health coverage from tens of millions of people, and to make matters worse tried to permanently price them out of real health care in favor of his sham "health plans" which were about anything but health, take their money and don't give them any real health coverage to show for it.

everybody conveniently leaves out the generous subsidies for those with limited income. when i qualified i paid less than $50/month for a basic plan that would have cost me over 4 figures on the private market. in fact, somebody with my health issues would not have been sold a plan for any price even if i could have afforded such.

I didn't think it was rushed for political reasons, it was rushed because there is a pandemic and we need a vaccine asap.

to the people who keep repeating the spurious rap about how the ACA mandate supposedly priced out pofolk - sigh. utter balderdash, again. you armchair supply siders conveniently leave out the generous PPACA subsidies that made health coverage available for the first time to working class folks for pennies on the dollar. go ahead and continue spreading this tired old falsehood about pofolk who couldn't afford obamacare with the subsidies. the only people who got absolutely no subsidies already made a solid middle class income [6 figures per annum] and could well have afforded their own private market insurance. demand-side ["third way"] economics is the only thing that makes capitalism tolerable for the workers of this nation.

PTC = premium tax credits

"the PTC left some consumers who were eligible to receive it owing substantial premiums. For example, a family of four with annual income of $80,000 was eligible for PTC but still needed to pay nearly $7,900 for a benchmark silver plan"
https://www.brookings.edu/blog/usc-broo ... th-policy/

$80,000 income for a family of four -- qualifying for partial PTC -- likely struggles to come up with $7, 900 to spend on premiums.

You consider this affordable?

a bronze plan cost me [working class income and not like those middle-classers making $80k/annum] less than $600/yr. that is a fact. granted it was a bronze plan but i am working-class and don't expect cadillac health care, just something to keep me out of a lifetime of bankruptcy should the worst happen, that is the whole GD idea behind health insurance! that middle-class family could also opt for a bronze plan like the rest of us who have to live on a tight budget. the subsidies, last i checked, paid partially up to an income of $178,640k/annum, and at those lofty levels you can afford a basic plan on the exchanges even sans full subsidy.

Do you think a civil war would be good though in the sense that if the blue states and the red states were to separate into their own nations, they would be happier and there would be less drama?

*ignores that smelly skunk lurking around*

A modern Civil War in the US will be nothing like that. There is no true line dividing"red states and blue states" like there was dividing the North and South in the last civil war we had.

A modern American Civil War would be more along the lines of what goes on in some of the Latin American countries or the Middle East.

It will be the kind of war that has neighbor against neighbor rather than state against state like those who secretly want a another civil war to happen are wishing for.

It will tear this country apart and it WILL be hell.

Oh okay, but a lot of states identify themselves as blue or red, so are they not really blue or red so much when they say that?

Back in the 80s my family had no insurance, and I know we could never have afforded Obamacare. We would have just lost my father's refund every year too. I don't believe in taxation or fines for the purpose of social engineering or forcing people to do things your way. Also there are people who don't believe in modern medicine and this forces them to pay for it.

All states in the US are honestly a mix of both conservative and liberal ideals despite the red and blue labels. In red states you usually have more liberal people who stick with bigger cities like for example Atlanta here in Georgia which is considered very liberal.

And in blue states you still have conservatives who stick to the more rural areas like in Upstate New York (or so I've heard, honestly I've never been to New York so I wouldnt know for sure.)
