I've had someone try to tell me that since they have reading problems, it wasn't "fair" that I was arguing so effectively, with long and thorough explanations, so would I mind arguing "worse" so it would be more "fair" or something...

If you're concerned about "bullying", report it. Simple.

This presents an issue because when the bullying gets reported and the report is deemed unactionable the person making the complaint just becomes more belligerent that something be done. They'll rant and rave about bias and threaten to leave unless something is done about their ego being hurt because a fair criticism was made.

Muddying the waters serves to distract from the initial argument and make the issue much broader. In general if you can't win on certain terrain it's useful to choose a more suitable battlefield (if you can). It also makes it easier to bring in posters who don't participate in PPR who are much more concerned that their friends are upset than about the details of the issue. Drama results, the place becomes more toxic and it's all the fault of everyone who ever criticized those views.

No, it's not cut and dry. It can be highly subjective and entirely up to interpretation based on perceived subtleties ie what they consider veiled racism which can be whatever they decide it is. Really if you're not entirely on their side, you've already slipped into that territory.

Not really, because the definitions of racism encompass those grey areas. So for example the individual (as opposed to institutional) definition of "racism" in the Cambridge Dictionary reads:

"harmful or unfair things that people say, do, or think based on the belief that their own race makes them more intelligent, good, moral, etc. than people of other races"

How harmful or unfair those words are, or to what extent you believe in racial superiority (beyond the fact you do), doesn't matter.

In situations where there's implied racism (or an allegation thereof), simple clarification of what was meant should suffice. I agree some people do get triggered by simple facts. For example it's a known phenomenon that Afro-Caribbean males in the UK have been disproportionately affected by Covid-19. There's nothing wrong in stating that as a fact. It would however be racist to then make some spurious point about genetic weakness / superiority off the back of it. But it's not hard to tell the difference between the two, is it?

What I'm talking about is what has gone on here specifically. Most of which you weren't around to witness.

I don't remember anyone being crazy over Bush or Obama when they were in office people are about Trump. People could criticize them and no one felt attacked. :?

Bullies are usually the ones who insist that saying there's bullying is false and if people don't like what they have to say they don't have to read it of they can report it. But then they'll also go on to say those who fought back were bullies trying to get them banned for bullying. It's pretty funny and sad to read. Really the hallmark of who a bully is, is they are the ones who follow others around and keep picking away at them wherever they post.

If they want to stamp and scream when they don't get their way, that's fine. It's just noise. Ignore it. It's not like it changes anything. They're not gonna leave, and if they do, let em. They'll be back.

They're gonna try to bury the thread in garbage either way. May as well at least ignore the empty threats and hollow claims, and simply press forward.

You never heard tell of "Bush derangement syndrome" then I take it. Or read stuff about Obama being a dictator and his supporters being cult-like. I have because I researched it.

You can't "research" a made up slur that someone called a medical condition.

You are expressing distinctly cultist alt-right deny/counteraccuse behavior & citing your own "research".

Research is to be cited as a legitimate study, not what your choice of sites told you.

For that matter most accusations of racism do get explained unless it's something that's been pointed out and explained repeatedly in the past. This is an accusation that a few posters like to make over and over again but it's largely not true in practice even if it gets defended in theory. Further, posters who might ask naively insensitive questions tend to be given the benefit of the doubt when they seem genuinely interested in learning.

I definitely would not jump to someone being racist if they ask a racist question. eg. "if black people are more victims of a police shooting, why do statistics show it's more whites that get shot by them?"

I would give them the benefit of the doubt and they are asking out of good faith than trying to do a "gotcha" I am right" and argue with anyone who responds.

Honestly, I would say the mods here can't please every user and if the user wants to feel there is a bias here for the left, let them feel that way. If they threaten to leave, let them leave.

They can create a right wing autism forum and post their right wing stuff there.

I have seen people call others bullies who stand up for themselves and defend themselves and fight against racism and bias.

I have seen bullies play the victim saying they were the ones bullied when they were the ones being the bully.

I have also seen political trolls here and one of them got banned as far as I know and I have seen that user say on another forum how he was bullied here. I was here and I saw he was the one stirring things up here and I saw one user call him out on it here. You can't decide to provoke users here and then cry victim status when you got a reaction to your trolling.

Thanks. That's such a quintessential example of what little it takes to be called a nazi here.

Because I Googled "Obama dictator" and "Obama cult" and mentioned I saw a lot of hits on those searches, that means I'm an "alt-right cultist" ie Nazi.

Actually you're just misled. You didn't do any research whatsoever & you're presenting it as a political science dissertation.

Noooooo...

You can google ANY term, and google will kindly find whatever it can regarding that topic, even if it's fake, fraudulent, or otherwise propaganda. You can get results for googling "donut shaped earth". There's even a wiki for the donut shaped earth. That doesn't make it real. It just means someone made up a fake page about a fake idea.

The observation is, that the act of simply googling a term, and because results exist, the thing must be real, is a very cultist approach to seeking information - "I conveniently prove my own point with my own research, trust me, I'm right", and that it happens to be a right wing tactic a lot. Nobody said you were a nazi. Or that you were a right wing cultist. It was said that your behavior was comparable to that of a right wing cultist, and the reasons why were given. Nobody put the target "nazi" on you. You grabbed the target, wrote "nazi" on it yourself, and stuck it on yourself, and went "look what he did!"

I wouldn't put it past the NSA to put you on those lists considering the inane BS you Googled though.

Passively associating presidents with nonexistent threats actually is considered somewhat threatening by the surveillance state.

You are using a made up term to describe our handling of this question. If we were actually deranged, we would not be discussing politics. It's like if I were to say you were responsible for Obamagate, or ask you for a cup of covfefe. You would have no response.

Do you think that's going to undo you calling me a Nazi?
