It's called "political pressure."

43 sycophants voted to save their political skins; 57 voted after considering the evidence presented.

But if their voting to save their political skin, isn't that voting out of bias? Wouldn't it make more sense to get a 'jury' that is unbiased, and get jurors who are not tied to either political party to decide to prevent bias?

All Senators swore an oath of impartiality before the impeachment hearing started. That didn't work out so well in practice; many minds had been made up before evidence was presented.

Oh okay, but since it didn't work out so well, are senators the best for this job then of voting in impeachments?

Best ... worst ... whatever ... Senators are designated in the Constitution as being the ones to do it.

Oh okay, it just seems that it's a flawed system now, if they are voting based on party bias.

As I keep on saying: Politics.

It happens on both sides of the political divide.
Some simply refuse to acknowledge it.

The system is fine, but it falls apart when you have an aberration like Trump running around crapping on everything - and others confusing his arrogance for strength, his false bravado for accomplishment, and his superficial interest in them for charisma.

Is your response to any political discussions here always going to be:
We also know you keep on saying "Politics  " because you keep on reminding us.

The whole idea of impeachment trials was born out of the beginning of the country when there were as of yet no organized political parties, and legislators could vote their conscience. The development of political parties has thrown a wrench into the process working as it should, as legislators' votes rests on party loyalty.

It's also interesting how the parties have transformed. The republicans used to be the good guys once upon a time.

Once upon a time. They do have to go all the way back to Lincoln for an example...

Well, when you don't have an argument, fall back on moral equivalency...

Well, under Grant, too.

So, you are saying the Democrats were the bad guys, at one time.
Why do you think that?
Serious question, anyone?

Why do you think there are so many evil people in America, now?
