The pursuit of employment is a right, but employment itself is a privilege granted by an employer. So if anyone “owns” a job, it is the employer, and the job itself is merely “loaned” to the employee under certain conditions, not the least of which is that the employee actually works for the employer. When the employee stops working for the employer, the employee abdicates the privilege of “having” the job, and the employer is free to grant the privilege of employment to another person.

Unions lie to people by telling them that jobs belong to them.

There are plenty of jobs available without crossing a picket line.
Trucker shortage, bus driver shortage , nursing etc..
Of course it’s harder to train for these jobs than crossing a picket line.

When AI can replace my mind, I will be long out of time on earth. I will welcome it BTW. It will not matter then as it can take over the reigns for all I care. My thinking skills are hard to replace that way.

Adaptability is something required in my field. We are used to constant change. One of my goals is to try to design the materials for the chips that make the AI work (and then retire off of the patents). Your job is more at risk than mine.

As for climate change, I have experience in environmental chemistry. I can adapt to my job as needed.
