Why are there laws against paedophilia?

A couple of my ancestors were on the winning side. They were just basic foot soldiers. One of them lost an arm. Another one married a Southern gal during the occupation.

Why are there laws against paedophelia? Simple to protect our children from pedobear.

Would you support raising the AOC then? Bear in mind that the AOC in many European countries is 14/15.

I think that's sort of the problem with the use of words like 'paedophile' at the moment - it's used to refer to an awful lot of people who really aren't paedophiles by any stretch of the imagination, but simply adults having non-abusive relationships with consenting teenagers under the AOC who have been caught up in some of the present puritanical laws around sex.

I am an adult woman-o-phile. Is there a technical term for that?

I don't know if there is a term that narrows your preference down to your preferred age interval.

I am not the least bit interest in boffing young girls or even teens.

No, I wouldn't support raising it. AOC laws are based on assumptions about the average number of people who are 'emotionally developed' enough by a certain age. I actually think a lot of 18 year olds aren't even ready for sex, but the majority of them probably are. It's really difficult to make a call on and I don't support criminalising people who aren't doing anything wrong. The difference between 15 and 11 is that whilst I think a minority of 15 year olds can make meaningful consent (I don't know how large that minority is), practially no 11 year olds can.

45 is about as young as you would go if you followed the half your age plus 7 rule.

I have a friend who is 70 and his gf is in her early 40s and it doesn't seem creepy at all.

That said, I'm glad that someone actually still finds women in their 40s attractive because I'm worried about turning 30, let alone 40. Women become invisible after a certain age (which is about 25 for some men!)

age of consent in denmark is 15… so we think they can make meaningful consent…

on the other hand do we have this odd law:

Any person who, by exploitation of another person's mental illness or mental deficiency,
procures for himself extra-marital sexual intercourse with that person shall be liable to
imprisonment for any term not exceeding four years.


i my opinion this means that no aspie ever can get laid legally. no matter consent or age.

I don't think any AOC should give people carte blanche to have relationships where there's a huge power imbalance, whatever the age of the people involved.

For instance, in my country you can die in the army and have sex at 16 but you can't vote or drink alcohol. It's all very arbitrary. Ephebophiles need to examine their preferences and seriously think about the welfare of whoever they are attracted to in countries where it's legal to have sex with under 16s. I'm not saying that countries need to raise the AOC, but I think child protection should be able to intervene if they think that the teenager's partner is taking advantage of them.

I sometimes wonder what ephebophiles are getting off on exactly, and if it's not just some dark part of some people's sexuality that needs an actual power imbalance (I'm not talking about a fantasy BDSM power imbalance, here). A lot of ephebophile males don't even look at women in their mid 20s - women in their 20s are still fertile and their bodies can handle pregnancy better than teenage bodies. So I think it has to be about power. I'm not saying that this is a conscious thing. I don't think it's something that is men's fault. I don't think it can be changed because it seems to be hard wired.
I think maybe looking at it honestly would make it less potentially abusive. I'm willing to give ephebophiles (both male and female) the benefit of the doubt and conclude that they simply don't know how much they could potentially mess their young 'partner' up. They're not mature enough themselves (despite being adults) to realise. The taboo and the sensationalism surrounding this don't help them realise what they're doing.

I have to say that as a bisexual women, the thought of touching up a girl of 15 fills me with disgust. It would just be too obviously exploitative for me to enjoy. Then again, I used to have a female teacher who used to stroke me at that age - so it's not exclusive to males (but it is mostly men who are ephebophiles).
