Well, actually they are forcing it on to us. They may now tell people that churches and other organisations that perform marriages will still have the freedom to reject what they call 'gay marriage', but if the history of such movements is anything to go by (and it is), within a couple of years they will be screaming "BIGOTRY!" at anyone who, in clear conscience, finds such... 'arrangements', let's call them, objectionable and wrong. Then will come the laws that will prohibit the free expression of opposition to these so-called marriages.
I don't see why, and what some religious and churches think their ability to not perform a gay wedding at their church or express disapproval about also extends to the right to not suffer any negative social consequences such as being called 'bigots'? SO they should have the right to b*tch and complain and raise hell about gay marriage...but then should be 'protected' from getting called bigots, religious fundies, haters, homophobes ect? Give me a break.

So to your thinking, you should vote for whoever promises you the most money?
Are you really trying to pretend that everyone who's on welfare feels as though they're entitled to money? Do you even realize that there are many of us, especially in the autism/Asperger's community, who simply cannot work a full-time job, and who, therefore, genuinely need welfare? Or are you too damned greedy and selfish to be able to care about us?
I'm not opposed to welfare for those who genuinely need it. The problem is that it has been greatly overextended. If you genuinely need welfare to live, then you should be unhappy with the sheer number of freeloaders who could work but who don't. They are likely costing you much more than Republicans.
Where is this sheer number of freeloaders who could work but don't?....most people on welfare are there because they need it. the number of free-loaders/frauds is actually much lower than the amount of genuine cases. I mean have you personally gone through any processes of applying for and getting on welfare? Did you know getting caught committing fraud/lying about disability carries very hefty legal penalities? There are much, much easier ways to commit fraud that also would pay more as well.
I just wonder where people get their numbers that there is some vast amount of free-loaders who simply choose not to work that almost outweighs the number of people on it who need it? Where does this come from? As someone on welfare I go to the welfare offices, fill out paper work I see the other recipients and no there aren't a bunch of people driving up in nice pimped out cars, with brand new expensive shoes, that look very well put together showing up...its poor people, many with very obvious disabilities. I mean of course frauds and fakes would piss me off...but there just aren't as many as the right wing media would have you believe I don't think.
Also on occasion a person on welfare can save up a little or might be able to find some nice things for much lower prices than normal like via the internet....so to assume someones a fake or fraud simply on the basis of maybe they have a 'smart phone' or a lap-top is pretty asinine but I've seen people do it. But yes people on welfare are not so regulated we are forced to only buy the cheapest worst quality goods/merchandise/service so if your numbers of fraud are coming from 'oh look that person on welfare has a smart phone' or 'looks like they just bought some shoes' get a life...I just bought shoes the other day cause mine have holes in them and I needed some new ones.

In general, the ones who you are taking the word of is not the scientists, but of others who are "interpreting" what the scientists say. The question to ask yourself is just what agenda area they pushing?

Asking good questions can be as important as answering them.

I don't know how many times this must be repeated: TAXATION IS NOT ROBBERY!
And just who is going to care for the impoverished and disabled? And how are you going to feel when they just die in the streets, or become desperate and actually steal from you?

Of course, but taxation is not defined as robbery...robbery is the illegal taking of someones property/money. And I would be fine with all taxes being eliminated if someone thinks of a better system, chairity is an option some people bring up but realistically if public services, the social safety network, and supporting the infrastructure where left up to charity it would be a disaster even worse than the disaster we already have. So until someone comes with a better system I see taxes as a necessary thing, at worst a necessary evil...
I just get bored of solution-less talk...if you think taxation is stealing start signing petitions, join a movement or political party that would like to simply get rid of taxation and work to come up with alternative ways to fund the things taxes fund. But most people who complain about it being stilling would rather just berate the poor and disabled on welfare who've simply applied for and been accepted to programs they qualify for and act as though we come to your houses and rob you at gun-point. If you truly think it is stealing take it up with the government (they are the ones who take the money)...even if they 'cut welfare' that wont mean lower taxes it would just mean no tax money going to welfare, which in turn would help weaken the infrastructure.

I imagine that depends on the talking point, and what sort of discussion it brings up...

Except it is. Taxation is taking money from people who earned it, ultimately by threat of force.
No amount of denial or yelling will change the fact that robbery is robbery, no matter if committed by a street thug or by a huge mafia calling itself a government.
It's quite telling that you feel the need, even through this medium, to symbolically raise your voice above mine, implying it should be the only one heard, for no other reason than that you decide so, and suggesting some kind of threat if I don't back off, all without providing a single rational argument to back up your denial or addressing mine.
Whoever freely chooses to do so, not a single person more or less. It's their problem, not anybody else's. Nobody else needs to care, so nobody has any business forcing them to.
My feelings have no bearing on this matter. People have a right to feel however they do. They might as well feel relieved by the good riddance of members of society who weren't pulling their own weight and have finally stopped being a burden to everyone else.
Stealing is always stealing and your needs don't entitle you to anything that isn't yours. Everybody is responsible for defending their property against any attacker, no matter what the latter's motives are. The only reason it may be advisable to care at all about the circumstances leading your assailant to attack you is to use them to your advantage to improve your defense.

Living in a civilized society involves several implicit and explicit social contracts.
If you were born in it, nobody asked you if you agree to them, but you also automatically receive the benefits. This is unavoidable so getting pissy about it is pointless.
Just as it would be pointless to ask you to please stop using the roads, police and fire protection, etc, and maybe pay back what was spent on your education.
