I believe in...well not a god as Christians or Islamics see it
more, like I worship the earth
which always made the most sense to me (worship the thing that keeps you alive and that you can see)

The air keeps you alive. Gravity keeps you alive. The microbes in your gut keep you alive. Can you see any of them?

no but I can feel the air, touch the water, I can feel my gut "work"
I have other senses then sight

but none of them can see/hear/etc the god you believe in
the "deities" I worship are merely physical representations of the earth and its power and greatness

Then why persist? Why not just leave?

There are so many people who say such strange things I cannot but persist in my curiosity as to how this can be. Perhaps somebody will turn up that will give me answers I can understand and accept. Religion is too widespread to ignore totally.

Yes, yes, that's why I'm not going to press the argument any further. The uselessness of warning a non-beliver about eternal damnation ... is not lost on me. I am as not as clueless as you might think. I am a realist.

Realist? Christians don't view things as they actually are, so how is it possible for a Christian to be a Realist?

Nah, but we can do scientific tests to assure they're there.

Realist: One who believes that an objective reality exists independently or partially independently.

God is awesome. God is one in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I also became an atheist at around seven years old too.

However.. there is a problem with the question you are asking..

What does it mean.. ?

Does it mean..

Do you believe in the existence of a supernatural entity..?

Or does it mean..

Do you believe in the words spoken by the prophets.. ?

“So he said to them: "O senseless ones and slow in heart to believe on all the things the prophets spoke!” - Luke 4:25

To ask the first question.. is down to human error.. since the idea of God.. is not defined as being a super-natural being.. in the Bible.

The Bible consistently speaks of a knowledge of God.. not a belief that God exists.

This is a wide-spead human error.. so wide-spead that both Christianity.. and atheism.. are founded on it.

However.. it is an error.. and there is no evidence to support it.. whatsoever... none.

In the most simple terms..

Believing in God means..

Believing in the truths that the Bible teaches.. not the myths.. which are symbolic accounts.. (that are also true.. once understood correctly).

It is naive to read these symbolic stories literally.

To answer the question..

Do you believe in God.. ?

Just ask yourself..

Do you believe in this.. ?

----

"All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean."

Jesus - Matthew 7:12

-

It really is that simple..

----

"My words are easy to understand and easy to perform.

Yet no man under heaven either knows or practices them.

My words have ancient beginnings.

My actions are disciplined.

Because men do not understand they have no knowledge of me.

Those that know me are few.

Those that abuse me are honoured.

Therefore the Sage wears rough clothing...

And holds the Jewel in his Heart."

Atheism is not founded on disbelief of Christian beliefs, if you're an Atheist you disbelieve in all Gods/Deities/Higher powers therefore that doesn't make very much sense for you to imply that Atheism is founded on the disbelief/misinterpretation of the Christian bible, especially considering Atheism long predates Christianity. And regardless of what you feel the bible is actually saying the majority of Christians believe God is some intelligent omnipotent male in the sky which is something I don't believe.

Yes, and evolution, and a 14 billions year old expanding universe. There that should confound those people who think, evolution disproves god and god disproves evolution.

Evolution has nothing to do with a higher power, it just explains the diversity of life, where does that even enter the realm of answering that question? Also if you're an Atheist that does not mean you believe in Evolution or any form of science, the dictionary definition of Atheism is a disbelief in a higher power/deity/god and that's all. Most Atheists do believe those things but it has nothing to do with being an Atheist.
