I would imagine it varies a lot, as with NTs.

I am a centrist, identifying with people like John Kasich, Joe Manchin, et al.

My favorite European leader currently is Mark Rutte (Netherlands)

I'm just left of centre, so if I have to identify as one or the other I guess Liberal, but really neither.

I lean towards the right, being a hardworking individual. I’d rather clean toilets than be on a benefit, but that’s just who I am.

As an aspie who works, I fail to see how having a financial safety net is a bad thing. That's one Liberal thing I'm definitely in agreement with as I'd rather be able to rest assured my needs are taken care of if I should need extra assistance than not. Sure, that means paying a little more in taxes, but peace of mind costs money, so the opposition to that is one Conservative standpoint that I don't understand. Besides, Conservatives are a bunch of hypocrites who are against stuff like that until they themselves need it, and then they're suddenly thankful for it. Also, they support frivolous spending on things like even more military defense but support cuts to actual practical stuff like infrastructure and even education? WTF?

I am not just liberal, I am democratic socialist. I'd just say socialist but then people immediately think of Soviet Russia which is not the type of thing I support.

Getting and keeping job cleaning toilets can be harder than you think at least where I am. I would rather clean toilets than be on benefits to, In fact my last employment attempt included cleaning toilets, also dishes as I was a dishwasher...and that can be quite a gross job.

I am currently working with voc-rehab again to try and get substantial employment...but in the meantime obviously I need something to live on. I don't want to support the right when they want to rip the social safety net from under me...especially when I am doing what I can to become employable. I was not before, now with some support which voc-rehab should provide I think I can become employable and move beyond part time menial work.

Also lots of people who are supported by various government programs do work, a lot of people on food stamps/EBT are working people. The left isn't 'supporting people who don't work' that's extremely simplified and inaccurate. More supporting people who still struggle to get by regardless of working as well as those who are unable to work, or get gainful employment. The left is about supporting everyone, even those poor southern ex-coal miners who Trump left behind...even cut funding to programs to help them learn skills to get into other industries while providing financial support.

Anyways that is my perspective, though your profile does not say location so...perhaps the left is different where you are.

Why do you say you are a democratic socialist?

Because that is what I most closely identify with as far as politics/government system, that or at least a mix of capitalism and democratic socialism.

I say I am a Capitalist because of all the technological advances. Plus Capitalism helped the working class more than Communism ever did. I like democratic socialism to.

Well to be specific I'd say democratic socialism would help keep the capitalistic features of this country in check better. Perhaps it would reduce the problem of the wealthy getting wealthier at the expense of those who are not as well off as well as the expense of our health(in regards to climate/environment/pollution regulations). Like that whole Flint Michigan thing....why is Nestle a corporation(not even a U.S corporation) getting clean water that could go to these people at a fraction of the cost to sell for profit while the people in the area can't get clean drinking water out of their sink? I don't think that situation would exist under Democratic Socialism, because the priority would be getting the citizens clean drinking and bathing water...not selling it to some corporation.

Businesses with bad business practices stay in business because of corporatism and lobbyism because they got the government on their side to bail them out look at the 2008 recession.

I'm currently a dish washer/toilet cleaner, and I also receive a disability check from the VA.
