I wouldn't equate the Republican Party with Donald Trump.

I don't even think of Trump as being a Republican, actually....nor a conservative.

He's just an incompetent version of Putin. He's a Keystone Kop type of dictator.

I would now. I view the Republican Party with a few exceptions as an authoritarian party. I would be surprised if a Trump or in case of health or imprisonment a member of his family is not their nominee in 2024.

Majority of Republicans say 2020 election was invalid: poll

Republicans Back Trump Because of the Insurrection, Not Despite It
Quote:
Morning Consult, in a poll released Tuesday, found that just 59 percent of Republicans want him to play a major role in the party, but 54 percent back him as the party’s candidate for president in 2024—up from 42 percent in the days just after the insurrection, and even with where he stood in late November in the same poll. (Among other potential candidates, only former Vice President Mike Pence, at 12 percent, reaches double digits.) That’s more support than Trump drew in the 2016 Republican primary, before four disastrous years that culminated in the attempted coup.

Half of Republicans say violence was Antifa’s fault

Can't they do the same thing with him that they do with everyone else and just toss him in jail and figure out what for later?
