The Mayans themselves are starting to get annoyed by all the talk.

I think nasa is predicting extremely strong solar flairs for that day. So strong they will wipe out our power network till it can be rebuilt. this includes satellites. I'm dreading it because i rely on the internet to talk with my boyfriend.

The cool thing about the Mayan's is they talked about the black hole in the center of the universe way before we knew what a black holes was. And they knew a lot of other things related to astronomy besides that.

Linky. Sounds like this Argüelles fella has a lot to answer for.

(there isn't really a centre to the universe, btw, at least not so far as we know; most galaxies including ours (of which there are literally billions) are thought to have a big black hole at their centre, but they're only big by comparison with the mass of a star, not on the cosmic scheme of things)

It is obvious that the primitive indians living there now have got nothing to do with the highly sophisticated ancient meso-american astronomy and architecture. Therefore their opinion on the subject is irrelevant.

Oh I love Roland Emmerich movies; they are so over the top and unintentionally funny. This looks like total disaster porn.
