I am really looking forward to read Richard Dawkins books. I got "The Blind Watchmaker" but could not read it yet. Yesterday at the bookstore I saw "The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution" and I was really excited about it. I like studying science and I get really excited when I see people like Dawkins arduously defending scientific theories like the evolution. I think he is making a remarkable work writting these books.

I like the book QED by Richard Feynmann. Sure he's not at all like Dawkins, nor is quantum electrodynamics anything like evolution, but real science is awesome.

You mean in the avatar? No, they are an electrical signals processed through video boards and sent to the monitor where hundreds of pixels are formed, compiled of 660 nanometer, 532 nanometer, and 430 nanometer photons arrayed so as to present the optical illusion of a form.

If there is a God, I would definitely not worship him. In my opinion, he's a self-righteous, narcissistic, psychopathic, megalomaniacal sadist.

Assuming this were true and that God is omnipotent, then how much worse off would everyone be compared to now?

I myself do not care for the "Christian" view of God. I pray mainly to Shiva and Krishna.

absolutley not. the bible is full of too many contradictions, and lies for me to base my spiritual life on it. i am however a friend of jesus, i generally like the guy and his message but cant trust mere men writing books with my life thank you

I believe many of Jesus' main teachings were altered by man over time. Council of Nicea, put together what books went into the bible. There are many books that were left out. Hell I don't even think Jesus was really a Jew. His teaching seem very Eastern. Although I must admit I haven't really all the bible. Interesting site to check out. http://www.salagram.net/Jesus-Went-To-India.htm

I don't know if Jesus went to India, but I did hear that the apostle Thomas went to India.

You may find examples of this in the Bible, but the Vedas and Bhagavad Gita portray God MUCH differently. I am still amazed to find people becoming atheists, just because they don't agree with the bible, without looking into other religions. exodus 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me", Krishna [Bhagwad Gita Ch 9] "I am the same to all mankind. They who honestly serve other gods, involuntarily worship me. I am he who partaketh of all worship, and I am the reward of all worshippers."

Yes but not most people's idea of one. I don't go to church and such because I had such a negetive expirence with bullying there. I was going to a Catholic one for a while but when when it was over and people would try and start a conversation with me and ask stupid questions I would have a panic attack. It was all I could do to hold it together when a baby cried or when the singing started. I always sat towards the back so the incense couldn't get my nose. My parents couldn't be any more un understanding. I don't like the idea of having to worship in a man made structure with other people when I feel much closer to God when I am alone. I was also expected to dress feminine and I feel so fake when I dress up. The last person I should have to feel fake for is God.

A lot of Christians interprete the Bible word for word. I personaly think there is a lot of figurism in it with translational errors and plus the Bible may have been dictated by God, but it was written down by people.

Yes - but I walked away from traditional church some 40 years ago and stopped attending church altogether about 6 months ago. I'm now 74 and it's a very long story.

You can find an introduction to my story on my blog - where there is a link to my web site and a description of how I have been affected by AS
