Well the American government and the ruling Elite sure think somethings going to happen, they are spending a lot of money preparing for THIER survival, Underground Bunkers

My guess is though, its not nature or propecy that points to 2012, they just want you to think that so when they themselves start world war 3 or something, you wont blame it on them when all us useless eaters die and leave them to inherit the Earth under their New World Order.

Personally I think the date to look for is around 2018
The original Babylon in the Bible took control of Jerusalem for a period of 70 years before God gave the city back to his people, things that happen in the Old Testament are often a pattern of things to come.
So, Babylon the Great from the book of Revelation took control of Jerusalem in 1948, in Revelation 17 and 18, it is said that God will destroy Babylon the Great, just as he did with Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon, 70 years after 1948 is 2018, maybe then Jesus will lead Gods people, Christians this time, into a cleansed and restored Jerusalem.

I don't think the world will end in 2012, as a matter of fact remember 1999? When mass- hysteria reign all over Y2K, it came and went, but nothing happened. Just like Y2K, 2012 will come, and people will look foolish yet again * those claiming the world will end. *
( just another product of mass- delusion/ hysteria )

Quoth the Bible: "No one knows the day or hour except the father himself, not even the son."

or something along those lines.

Using the Bible to pinpoint a date for apocolypse is ridiculous, sense A) the Bible says that the date of the ends can't be known by mortal minds and B) the Bible says that the end will take place of the course of many, many years, so picking a date is pointless.

That is a physical and psychological impossibility. Reality is continuous since the time of the Big Bang. There is no Restart Button.

I never mentioned a restart button. and I dont believe in the big bang theory. and there is a such thing as starting or creating something new out of something that already exists.

You are assuming the Big Bang means something from nothing. There are variants of the Big Bang hypothesis wherein the expansion from a singularity is an intermediate event in an eternal system. For example the Steinhardt-Turok ekpyoritic hypothesis. In their system the existence of colliding branes is eternal. No beginning, no end.

ruveyn

I am not assuming anything. I never said anything about creating somethimg from nothing. If you had read my post it said creating somethimg from something that already exists. Proper term would be transformation.

Yes, but Jesus did give signs and told us to "keep on the watch, more so as you behold the day getting near".
Maybe the Biblical quote saying nobody knows the day or the hour indicates the year could be perceived closer to the time? Or maybe nobody could know the time until the time comes, then it would be known, what I mean is back in Jesus day, the year of the Jewish bankers reclaiming Jerusalem wouldnt have been known, but once it occurs in 1948, then it is known?

You will have to explain more about what you mean in point B and what scriptures say it will take place over many, many years?, in numerous places, the end of Daniel for instance, we are given a precise period of how long Christians will be persecuted for, 1260 days, how long the persecuting governmnet has authority over Gods people for, 42 months which is also confirmed as the rulership of the "Beast" of Revelation.

Why is it that one civilization had a calender that stopped and everyone automatically thinks that the world will end because a calender stopped on a specific date? It's like saying my calender stops on August 31 2011 so I think the world is going to end there. I don't get the Mayan civilization but if they wanted too, they could have made a new calender and continue on from there.

It really doesn't help that scientists just said that they miscalculated the calendar in question versus our own modern adaptation of the calendar and that we could actually be a century or so off from the original estimated date.

//meaning I don't buy into any religion's doomsday...just concerned about the precautions and warnings we're given from those who actually study such phenomena.

To be clear, I don't believe the world will end in 2012.

I don't believe most of what has been said about "the end of the world."

Doubt it.

Here's another clue that signifies the world not ending in '12:

Even the Mayans are telling people to knock it off.

If December 21, 2012 isn't the end of the world I have a feeling that lots of babies are going to be born in September 2013.

Honestly, I bet the Mayans just got tired of writing dates down. They probably figured that we would understand the pattern after looking at a calender dating for thousands of years. Remember Y2K? Yeah, the world didn't end then either. :/
