I think that option is covered under "not for a very long time."

All things come to an end so its safe to say that the Earth will meet its maker sometime in the eons to come- so if the reader does not have a particular theory about when that it is- "not for a very long time" is what to pick.

as Karl Kraus said, "The true end of the world is the destruction of the human spirit; the other would merely be the insignificant attempt to see whether, after such a destruction, life could go on."

I am descended from David and please believe me, you would want me to be running the world.

By the way, David was a thug and a murderer. You do know that, don't you?

On his deathbed David had Solomon put a hit out on Shamai.

I know he had Bathshebas husband put in a position to be killed, which I suppose makes him a muderer, and God wouldnt let him build the temple as he had so much blood on his hands, though that was legitimate blood, as for being a thug, you will have to furnish said details as I was not aware of such.

I didn't vote, but I do think there's a good possibility that humanity could go extinct from nuclear war within the next 50 years. It all depends on what we decide to do about it though. It doesn't have to happen if enough people take the initiative to promote peace and understanding between different cultures. Don't expect politicians to do all the work either. If you do that, you'll, we;ll, no doubt, go extinct. People, from every culture, need to learn that we all have commonalities and that were all individuals and not purely defined by how our political leaders act. I think, for this, the internet can be a really positive thing for bringing humanity together. Its a shame there's so many trolls out there wanting to dump on people for their nationalities, cultures and religions, race, etc.

Several billion years from now the Sun is said to be going to expand out into a red giant stare and cook to earth or even cause it to totally vaporize

That is why we need the Moon Goddess.

Me, I am waiting for the asteroid - though I would settle for the classified UFO beings.

I believe (as is the belief of my church) that the end of the world is not the destruction of the Earth but the end of worldliness and evil when Jesus returns to the Earth for the millennium, 1000 years of peace.

As for the son of David thing, Jesus was a direct descendant of David.

As for the Mayan calendar, 2012 is just the end of the calendar. It has happened many time in the past. Every time they reached the end of a calendar they made a new one. A really good explanation of this can be found in This Podcast.
