Most of these were just wild ass guesses. Generally gave high numbers to stuff I like, and lower numbers to things I don't care for. Lots of vagueness and ambiguity, though...

3, 8, 5, 0, 2, 7, 9, 2, 0, 0, 7

It would make some difference in my answering if I thought the question did not mean "what is good in a society" but "what is it good for a society to do?"

So far as I can manage without leaving this continuum minimally political, minimally social, minimally connected.

The difficulty i have with this one is that I'd like to think of an ideal society as being full of an idealized version of myself, of course, but i have to consider that any theoretically possible society, in order to be livable for an overwhelming majority of it's members, has to accommodate those who i would class as uneducated rabble, or as a friend of mine puts it, homo simians.

I'm not entirely sure what is meant by civil society so i will assume for the purposes of this post that JuniorVarsity is referring to it as a social institution.

And i'd like someone to point out which market is or ever was free.

So if we're looking at this from a perspective of what is required for, lets say, a statistically representative cross-section of americans, I'd say something like this:

7,9,8,4,4,6,10,3,2,6

I'd have ranked religion lower if i thought morons could live without it. Not that I'm saying that all religious people are morons or that all morons are religious, but some people, due to circumstance of not being at all bright, have very difficult lives in which they will never get ahead, and they may as well have a fairy tale to believe in.

Edit: Lets put it this way. Religion is a crutch, and i would never deny a crutch to a man with a broken leg.

Its kinda dead in the water I have lists of ten for some people 11 for others
and no real system to decide which number goes to what answer.
If people would check their answers I can continue.
