Do you believe bad/evil thoughts are ever "wrong"?
The dissection of a personality to the point of accepting one component and isolation and rejection of others as not inherent or acceptable goes down the road that Descartes stumbled into with the misconception that they are somehow unique units. It is unfortunate.
THIS - from the person who has complained of my Anglic that it is unclear.
I THINK - I have, after all, read and marked up many student papers in my time - I can guess at what this is trying ro say, but I would not want to bet it was what was intended.
It comes down, I think, to the fact that one of my very basic premises is what I know to exist, and one of Sand's very basic premises is that he knows no such thing.
From one who incessantly presents grotesque curios of incomprehensible literary efforts this is almost a complement.
Simply said I pointed out you cannot pick and choose the components of a person's personality and reject what you consider distasteful parts. A human's mental construction is an integrated whole with its physical body and must be considered as such.
Apparently we are on conversational terms again. Somewhat bristly but no doubt a microscopic improvement although we have yet to bypass the third person reference stage.
Whether your dealings with your students are tragedies or comedies I cannot ascertain but it seems possible they partake of both.

As I said - it comes down to that ineluctable difference in primes.
Bei mir: Truth is, God is, Here is not all, and we are soap molecules, one end dissolved in the water of the universe and the other dissolved [I like this] in the chrism.
Bei dir, and you can worry as to why I thou thee, what you see is all you get. The animal is a beast. I don't care for Wordsworth, but one who defends Frost may:
A primrose by a river's brim
A yellow primrose was to him,
And it was nothing more.

So it finally comes out we are soap. Obviously I am hard brown cleansing soap and you are pure soft soap, a glutinous slimy slippery amorphous mass bulging frequently into insubstantial foam. Nice that we cleared that up.
I have been thinking over this turmoil between Philologos and myself and realize I owe him an apology. His language, his concepts, his quirky references have struck me as outrageous total BS but that is no excuse for my behavior which is reprehensible.I certainly have no power to give him what I consider a modicum of reasonable good sense nor improve his communicative style. I quit this nagging as of now and will try not to indulge in it again.Sorry.
One aspect of humanity seen from my standpoint can be conveniently expressed using as metaphor the chemical; characteristics of the soap molecule. Did you ever take a look at chemistry?
Of course the outward form of the soap is irrelevant to the chemical action, and - though I know nothing of your skin color - your qualitative comment, though highly flattering to me, is at best frivolous.
It would havew been more to the point had you noted the diminished effectiveness of either soap style in hard water, which is not too bad a metaphor for your situation in the world.

Mr Philologos, I am terribly sorry, but I can neither see people as soap or shoe polish, or even floor wax. I have had more intelligible conversations with dogs, cats, and sparrows. Not with much depth, but certainly with genuine comprehension as to what we were about. I find I cannot reach that level with you so it is better we find more rewarding things to occupy our time. Have a nice summer.
