some psychadelic drugs are used by religions such as shamans and even druids, to enter into different mediums. It's a religious practice for some beliefs. The Native Americans often did this kinda thing, and on (atleast some) native american reservations the federal government has no authority to enact laws against the use of such drugs as marijuana.
Also, it is being used as a prescription in California and a few other places, for people with catarax or glocoma.

Just thought I'd say that here in South Australia, it is decriminalised... despite some stupid politicians trying to change that.

Also, for the record, it's "cannabis". The term (if memory serves) marajuana [or whatever] was coined by the U.S government to scare it's people because it sounded Spanish and thus Mexican and thus evil.

Truth be told. I was hoping on some anti-cannabis posts. I've never understood the the aversion to it on the scale that it's at.

Sure, I do! I'm personally against pot, because it makes people so stupid. I know some heavy stoners, and they're the stupidest people I know, and ALL they care about it "pot" and "legalization". They're completely OBSESSED from it by doing it. And hemp clothing? Give me a break, I'd rather wear something that DOESN'T feel like a burlap bag

The only way I wouldn't go up in arms about legalization is if public smoking (anything) was BANNED

How does it make them stupid? I have met people from all walks of life that smoked marijuana in moderation and also heavy users, some were not that bright in my opinion and others could be described by some as geniuses. Hemp also has many uses beyond clothing, and not all hemp clothing feels like a burlap bag. Also, how do you know that marijuana is all they care about? Have you asked every one of them if that is all they care about or do you just assume it to be true? In my opinion, It is not pot that makes people "stupid", it is "stupid" people that give pot a bad name. It does not help that since it was criminalized in 1939 for primarily political reasons, people tend to associate marijuana with a criminal mind set.

See the video i posted - hemp fibres can be crafted into almost any type of known fabric - it can even replace silk.

actually no, we dont. gedogen beleid. you can own up to a certain amount (of soft drugs) as long as its for personal use, you can even own upto 5 plants as long as its for personal use, and you are allowed to buy it for personal use. you are not allowed to sell it, you are not allowed to store it for sale, you are not allowed to produce it for sale, you are not allowed to purchase what you wont use yourself.

as long as its in teh dealers hand its illegal, but as soon as you own it its suddenly legal....magic isnt it.

and im totally pro legalisation of soft drugs. its hypocritical otherwise, since its safer than alcohol. i dont use it myself though (anymore), alcohol is much better :)

Legalise cannabis. Allow people to own 1-2 cannabis plants per household for personal use.

It's important to inform people regarding drug use. What is appropriate, and what is dangerous? One only needs to go to erowid.com and read various trip reports to realise the vast majority of these people taking drugs on this web site are ill advised and entirely unprepared. It is very sad indeed, when the information is out there (although not always "official". Psychedelic studies were banned for a period of time), but users choose to get into these undesirable situations. There is also the problem of administration. Unfourtunately, the vast majority of cannabis users choose to smoke this substance, which is inefficient and unhealthy. If cannabis were legalised, I would like to see a push towards safer methods of cannabis administration using the raw plant material (ie: vaporization).

There is no doubt cannabis has medicinal application(s) and as long as the majority of users chose smoking as their prefered method of administration, organizations such as the FDA can hide behind the dangers of smoked cannabis use, completely ignoring other methods of administration that have proven to be safer and more efficient delivery methods.

I wouldn't mind seeing psilocybe mushrooms legalised as well. I've been interested in these fungi since an early age, when Upper Paleolithic cave art (a purported origin of art) was discussed in hushed tones in elementary school. I have a mild interest in other tryptamines such as dimethyltryptamine as well. I can't seem to find too much cause for concern regarding these particular naturally occuring substances, so long as the public was properly educated regarding these matters.

Forget marijuana, it's prostitution that needs to be legalized (especially in Texas, Idaho, and Montana--states where I have been accepted into schools)

i know some heavy drinkers and they're also some of the most moronic i know.

i seriously doubt you could publicly smoke pot if it was legalized. in a lot of larger cities, you can't smoke cigarettes in public right now..i'm sure an intoxicant would be kept out of the public forum.

i see no problem with recreational use and did so last night. 'twas good fun. the important part is not going overboard. just like with drinking....don't take it too far and don't be stupid about it.

i'd rather pot smoking bars over drinking bars....less chance of a fight and more chance of tasty food being served around.
