Does Rupert Murdoch have Aspergers Syndrome?

The point was they were doing some rather shady things on the side, or acting like they were trying to do some shady things.
Even if there was anything duplicitous about how ACORN had operated (I believe that little snake had in fact provided a very edited final version incriminating them), that doesn't negate the fact that they had done a lot of good for poor people and minorities. That's something that the right had never cared to understand.

You mean by getting minorities loans that they couldn't possibly afford, setting them up for predatory loans, etc.? How is that helping minorities again?
Those were actually banks that had screwed people over. ACORN was trying to help people, and were themselves blindsided.

That explains why at first the Banks were trying to resist making the loans because they were not fiscally sound loans...

But as soon as the banks realized they could screw poor people over, they jumped at the chance, and are still at it.
Regardless if ACORN had made bone headed moves, they weren't the ones actually lending the money, and preying on people who generally don't know better. The Banks didn't have to behave like a bunch of bastards, so they're still the bad guys here.

It is the classic carrot and stick situation, which is why I hold ACORN and the Government responsible more than I do the banks.

Again, nobody made the banks take advantage of people. The worst you can say about ACORN and the government is that they meant to help people, even though it turned out badly.
And as I recall, all this foolishness of home ownership for even the poorest began with Bush and his idea that "we are an ownership society."

A business that cannot turn a profit and operates at a constant loss will soon go out of business... They were forced to make the loans, and many banks did not use adjustable rates.

And the banks preyed on people's ignorance. They even had a scam going, where rates and even the agreements with borrowers were altered without the borrowers' knowledge. That way, after foreclosing, the Banks could take other suckers while still holding on to the money of their earlier unsuspecting clients.
The banks were hardly innocent in this manner, as they were driven by the most malevolent greed.
While liberals may have been boneheaded in the matter of helping poor people and minorities achieve the American dream of home ownership, it's conservatives who have not only run interference for banks, but have protected them.
As a matter of fact, I have been critical of Obama. I think he should have had the justice department prosecute every single one of those dream destroying vampires in the banking industry.

It is unconstitutional to apply laws retro-actively.

And I'm to believe Obama personally ordered that these agents be intimidated into silence?
On top of that, this was just a dumb plan someone figured would work out, which went horribly wrong. I certainly doubt anyone in the ATF planned for this to happen.
Then there's Darrel Issa, who is a partisan hack who I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw him.
