nice to know i wasnt that far off on a guess, thanks for doing the legwork :lol:

i also discovered a fatal flaw in my own reasoning, it would require that there actually was a major difference in life quality and opertunitites in a habitat compared to a spaceship, when in reality any efficient mission would use the spaceship itself as the main habitat, maybe with minor (think the experimental mars base) cylindrical all in one outposts, to be dropped directly from the ship to the planet.

there is also the distance issues, a shame all current research in negative energy is in it's infancy (some say there isnt proof but in physics it is generally accepted that a negative enrgy state can be present in a vacuum (casimir forces))
