also the above vid was brilliant
Actually, the Mexica Sun Stone that the male figure in the cartoon is holding is, as its name suggests, is Aztec, not Maya, in origin; the Aztec Calendar was rather crude, purely cyclical and without the Long Count of many other Mesoamerican Civilizations, such as the Maya: The Aztecs could not distinguish time periods more than 52 years at most; in contrast to the Maya, who had a more accurate estimate of the length of the tropical solar year, and even more so with the lunar cycle, than the Spanish who eventually conquered them.
I am sorry if I seem to be pedantic, I get the joke of course, but I am just tired of people, almost always through no fault of their own, failing to distinguish between the various Mesoamerican Civilizations, the mixing up of the Olmecs and the Teotihuacanos is, though completely understandable if coming from anyone besides a Mesoamerican Studies Professor or a history buff like myself, is just as historically inaccurate as mixing up the Mycenaeans and the Romans, the Nok and the Ifé or the Sumerians and the Assyrians. People even get Andean and Mesoamerican Civilizations confused!
