Are you religious?

If you are not an atheist, you are probably a theist.

I am open to several possibilities about God. I don't follow any traditional doctrine, what I do follow draws upon Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.

I'm agnostic and largely indifferent to the "God" question. I feel like the concept of a conscious cosmic being is too narrow to be the main point of contention/identification in a religious discussion.

Although, based on some recent research, there are a higher percentage of Autists who are atheists than in the general public, that is not always the case.

Relating to a supreme Being or to the supernatural is, in a sense, a social skill. It also requires empathy.

I believe in a society having a religion (or religions) that promise rewards for being good and the ever-present threat of hell for being evil.
It literally has kept me on the straight and narrow. Well, straighter and more narrow than I would be without that that threat hanging over me.
Being bad is way too much of a temptation for me. :twisted:
I've known lots and lots of others who share that belief so there must be considerable value in it.

For those who are only capable of being "good" like a clockwork mechanism that is forced to be, I suppose this might be true. Religion might be useful for the morally degenerate who cannot do anything without some sort of selfish reward/punishment scheme to make them approximate decent behaviour, even if they're not truly capable of it.
