I think the Biblical version of Hell is just as likely as the Biblical version of the age of the earth.

i think a lot of contemporary christians overlook the fact that the Earth might be the hell of which they speak.

Would certainly explain a lot.

And here I thought that it was your fear of the moderators that was keeping you in line.

Well then, the next time you step out of line, I'll tell God on you, and then you'll be in really big trouble!

Raptor can be banned but the guy pulling Raptor's strings has the means to create other raptoresque characters to wreak havoc here.

It's Raptor's rich  posting history that would be lost since it would no longer be associated with any new user name.
People could no longer click on "Raptor" then "Find all posts by Raptor" and be agast at all of his colorful handiwork.
The new one (or ones) would have to work extra hard to re-create all of that.

If the guy pulling Raptor's strings ever did such a thing, then I would have to tell God on him. :shameonyou:

Interesting topic and I'd like to say something but I'm afraid my English is not good enough. There could be gross misunderstandings if I went into details about the concepts of Heaven and Hell. I don't claim that I could explain these things in Finnish, either. No, they are difficult to understand, let alone to talk about.

It's a terrible mistake to be a stubborn atheist. We're not meant to be that way. But, of course, if you're grown up in a home where religious or spiritual matters were not encouraged, I understand that it's difficult to start to live otherwise. And I'm not a preacher, and I'm not on any mission. It's not my business to get involved in saving other people's souls. There are those who do it far better than I ever could. I haven't even ever had a near-death experience which would have changed my life. I have never talked to an angel, face to face. What do I have, then? I've been given the gift of understanding what I read. Opportunity to read the Bible in two languages, sets of commentaries, encyclopedias. Scrolls, if you like.

And willingness to find out. Willingness to hear the printed Word. I'm not boasting to be anything special. The door is there for all. Tricky thing is that this door has no key on the outside. It must be opened from within.

We're not meant to be anything really. You are who you choose (or are conditioned) to be.

Whatever else you're saying needs to be backed up with evidence.

And this is coming from an atheist who hails from a somewhat religious family and who got involved with fundamentalists at one point in time.

Anybody ever notice the Earth looked exactly like Hell when god was supposedly creating it? My favorite metal band has an old album cover of it.

Anyways why would the Earth look exactly like Hell at the beginning of the Bible?
