i think the biggest fault of western society is trying to make others in the world just like them.

in a way it seems like they want to make the rest of the world like them,i know it is wrong, but its not just like the usa in making them "democratic", thats the excuse for privatising their industries and taking over the minds of the people so they become materialistic worshipers and working machines like in the usa, once they got control of your companies they live like kings, look at the uk for example, they have nothing in that little island that would produce a profit, and countries in south america rich in resources are in poverty while there in the uk are ultra millionares and theres no mega ghettoes.

This is a gross generalisation concerning religious people, ASPER. Many do use their brains. Actually most people use their brains; they would be able to do little if they did not. And seriously, many religious people do use specifically those parts of the brain associated with reason. To return to snake321's objection, yes extreme view points from either side can be irritating, but moderation is not invariably a wiser stance. It can be (though certainly not in Snake's case) apathy. The long-term consequences of this can also be perilous. But certainly one should be able to listen to arguments from both sides without losing one's temper too much, and draw one's own conclusion with the assistance of reason and other human traits. But reason is not infallible.

The Government of the United States of America does not have the technology to control people's minds to that extent yet; they can only manipulate, as other world leaders do. And materialism is hardly confined to America; here in Australia and in other parts of the world there is materialism; yet it does not yet enjoy absolute supremacy. We must vigilant that it does not become so.

In what way is non-bias moderation a less wise of a stance? Lets say (random names here) Dan and Samantha are on work break, and they are planning on a business meeting over lunch. Dan wants Chinese, and Samantha wants Italian. The best coarse of action is for them to compromise and eat at a Chinese/Italian restaraunt, right?

I think people who have issues with this are strongly conflicted by their dominance gene, and do not want to compromise, they don't really want equality (even if they consciously think that they do), they want to be superior. This builds on problems that already exists and it creates more problems in the long run. It's like (to those of you who had siblings growing up) when your mom made you and your bros/sisters icecream, you always had to make sure they didn't get more than you did, right? Well not compromising would be like refusing to have an equal bowl of icecream because you just HAVE to have more than your brother/sister.

Your example does not support your case. And on the whole I agree with you; I did not say that moderation would ever be a LESS wise choice than the two extremes mentioned; I merely felt at liberty to point that it would not INVARIABLY be wiser (there could be three equal follies in some instances). A better solution in the above scenario would be to compromise by alternating, unless either was adamantly opposed to the other's food choice, in which case perhaps you are right; I am really not that concerned with hypothetical Dan and Samantha. Maybe your solution for that dilemma would be the best.

I enjoy our debates, snake321.

By the way religion, even Christian religion, is not invariably alligned with the right (I realise that you did not state nor really even imply this, I am just clarifying). There are plenty of Christian lefties, and moderates for that matter.

What, precisely, does your concept of the golden mean, happy medium or whatever entail? I just worry about a possible assumption of someone's (not necessarily your) opinion being the moderate, unbiassed one in contrast to those of others, being a potentially dangerous delusion. This is a completely separate case, of course to the peril of apathy: I specifically stated that I was reasonably certain that the latter did not apply to you. The overwealming conviction that your position is one of superior rationality might be a potential problem however.

Keep on struggling! Many are needed for this labour.

You probably agree with the 'working' factor. Just so you know, America, which is or at least WAS the best country to live in, was done so through "working machines."

I do not think that ASPER was talking about labour-saving devices, but about his concern about people becoming materialistic automata. You may not have meant the phrase in the "labour-saving device" way either, though if it were a comment on superior diligence or industriousness I am uncertain if you have as strong a case, Corvus.

the quran show us who has to be killed,or better yet, fought, because if you read the translation of it saying believers should kill the infidel, its not that simple,if u read further youll see that if they dont start the fight it is impossible to start a war making that just self defense.

the TALMUD!(written by rabbis saying it was God inspired, kinda like they came together with an evil plan and put it on paper) thats evil! here some verses from it,then youll realize why most jews are murderers and tricksters with the money.

"It is permitted to take the body and the life of a Gentile."
Sepher ikkarim III c 25

"A heretic Gentile you may kill outright with your own hands."
Talmud, Abodah Zara, 4b

"The Jews are called human beings, but the non-Jews are not humans. They are beasts."
Talmud: Baba mezia, 114b

Sanhedrin 58b. If a heathen (gentile) hits a Jew, the gentile must be killed.

Sanhedrin 57a . When a Jew murders a gentile ("Cuthean"), there will be no death penalty. What a Jew steals from a gentile he may keep.

Sanhedrin 43a. Jesus deserved execution: "On the eve of the Passover, Yeshu (Jesus) was hanged...Do you suppose that he was one for whom a defense could be made? Was he not a Mesith (enticer)?".....(the quran says they got someone else not jesus himself, jesus did not die on the cross)

PLEASE, go the this site if u wish to know more, its full of atrocities regarding the talmud, youll begin to realize why these people are so evil.
http://www.missionislam.com/nwo/talmud.htm

this goes out not in the news because the jews put a lot of money in this country to get things done and kill the muslims and even americans because they dont care about no one except their fellow jews.

peace

The Talmud, Midrashim etc. are rabbinical commentaries. I do not think that anyone claims exactly or even approximately the same authority as for the Tanakh (Hebrew Scriptures, called by many of my fellow Christians including at times myself the Old Testament - Tanakh is from Torah, Nevi'im, Ketuvim, Law (or instruction) Prophets and Writings). Enough controversy there some might argue. And yes translation can be an issue; the Qur'anic prohibitions on certain actions, including offensive war, and certain actions like killing civilians even in defensive war, should be plain enough, however disregarded by a MINORITY of Muslims. Fellow Christians do not invariably manage the whole loving thy neighbour thing (also in Leviticus/Vayiqra of Tanakh, as well as the later quotation in the Gospels as the second of the greatest comments in the Law; first of great commandments is Shma' "Hear o Israel, the LORD thy God, the LORD is one: ye shall love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and all thy soul, and all thy strength."

And the Sanhedrin was only a council. I do not know that it was always unanimous. Yes these quotations are troubling: however few Jews would treat these as injunctions of an equal authority to the Scriptures; I assume most would reject them.

That's NTs for you, they can't handle the truth of the universe. Religion is an evolved lie that feeds on power. A particular religions is nurturing to its own but viciously savage to the enemy. One thing that religion(the evolved lie) teaches us is family values and strong marriage makes for a strong society, abstinence before marriage also makes for a strong society.

The religious rituals and practices are not surplus meaningless rituals but always lead to something earthly and materialistic.

Religious practices tend to lead to too things; it makes their society strong or it helps them to win wars over other religions.
