recently i the U.S.A bill boards advertising the upcoming season of game of thrones have the quote "all men must die".
So pointing out the fact of mortality is man-hating now?
Typical.
if they use all women must die would you still defend the show.
I and many people are not familiar with the show.
what do this quote mean.
I don't watch the show either, but then I wouldn't draw any sociological conclusions from an advertising campaign for it.
It's a subversion of sexism.
As 'man' is used as a shorter version of 'mankind', itself shortened from 'humankind', so 'men'.
A man may intone to other men, thinking only of other men as women don't even register in their consciousness, in a serious, weary way, that 'all men must die'. That is, 'all men are mortal'. He may have in mind only men and not women, as women are not deserving of such serious ponderances. That they are, as your video had it, frivolous, silly-minded creatures, and it's a marvel they can see their way to getting out of bed without twisting an ankle.
It relies on the dual meaning of men - that is, being used for both males and humans.
The subversion comes when a woman hears that and, presumably speaking for a group of women, responds, 'yes, but we are not men'.
Rather like in LOTR where the woman soldier kills the thing that boasts (something like) 'no man can kill me!'.
Ah, here's a short clip of it:
