I don't think so. It was a joke of Bill Maher's on being pro-death.

Part of it is as Hooper said that when you murder a pregnant women you are killing her and the child she is carrying under the assumption that she intended to give birth to that child. Whereas abortion would imply the woman has no intent to give birth. Another factor is societal tradition. Killing a pregnant woman was classified as double homicide all the way back to Hammurabi's code and was present in many cultures so its kind of ingrained in the mind of most societies.
