The darling of the far right, Joe the plumber, just today said gun rights trump the lives of kids.
I sincerely believe even the most ardent gun enthusiasts of WP wouldn't go to the extremes of that heartless cretin.

Actually, he said that the kids' lives don't trump his constitutional rights - and fundamentally he's not wrong. The founders made a conscious choice to value the freedoms of the individual above the security of the society at large. The tradeoff to that is that sometimes bad things will happen.

Having said that, we don't need to just throw up our hands and all become nihilists either. There is definitely room for discussion on a public policy level - but trying to stop the action by banning the instrument isn't an option.

By "darling of the right", you mean some guy from the McCain campaign that no one has heard from or cared about since? Plus that's not actually what he said.

Partisanship kills braincells.

Nice way to put a distasteful and undeniably partisan twist on what he actually said.

Same difference.
And as he's still being reported on for the idiocies he's spewing, apparently someone's still listening to him.

God forbid anything happen to his children (and yes, I sincerely mean that), but I'm willing to bet he'd change his tune if some maniac shot his kids.

That's the epitome of an emotional argument, using fear to try and influence rather than reason; quite literally "think of the children!". Also, no: http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/29/us/connec ... k-hearings

A man whose son was just shot to death is emotional? Well, I never!

Kraichgauer doesn't have a son, certainly not one who's been shot recently. Maybe you should spend more time reading the posts and less time trying to be clever, the way you're doing it now isn't really working for you.

No, but I do have a daughter, and if anything would happen to her, I can't imagine being the least bit rational.
