I agree too. They do need help. Help getting more drugs. Anything else is a conflict of interest, and it usually does not work. There is the rare case of stupid people believing misconceptions, and lies about drugs, and drug use, however that is not healthy thinking for stupid people to believe for other drug users. They might think drug users are bad, distorted, evil human killers or something.
And of course addiction is a disease. And the only cure is more drugs. How else does modern medicine cure diseases. It doesn't happen from saying no? Like ooh, I have cancer. Well just say no? And boom! Cured!
Well than perhaps it is a question of what drug....than. For instance if someone was addicted to opiates and concerned about their health and wanting to quit that, but still need some kind of chemical altering of the brain to feel better....why not marijuana? I mean I am just not sure sobriety is the thing to strive towards for everyone, for some it very well could be counter-productive. Though not sure more drugs cures addiction, but hell they even have meds to alleviate addictions but then the person is still taking that drug on a regular basis to not use another drug.
If someone wants to quit, they just do. Over 80% of the people who quit, and actually stay off of it for good, quit cold turkey. In fact I don't know anyone who quit a drug from the use of other substances or treatment. The nicotine systems are less than 10% effective. I'm sure the 10% that actually quit, really want to do it anyways. The trick is to get your fill, not overdose, or look like a poster boy for D.A.R.E. and get over it. Or keep doing it in as much of a positive manner as possible. Even people on perscription meds have difficulties with this. And they are driving around cars. On opiates! If anyone thinks getting high is worse they need to get a head examination. Especially those who perscribe it.

Both, I certainly hope science does not make that possible.

I don't know from what I understand there are people who want to quit things and aren't able to 'just do it' and with some addictions there is there is the withdrawl problem, some withdrawls can be deadly if not treated as far as I know. Of course then there are people who don't want to quit, who obviously are not going to be made to quit and should just try and be as safe as possible about it....and certainly don't go driving all f***d up or other stupid stuff where there is a good chance of injuring people.

I would like mass quantities of magic mushrooms please. I would like to have a vision, and see some trails please. It grows under cow poo in Missouri. How you gonna fight a war like that. And what about native americans tribal rights to use them? And others? Taking that away is not a win. It is [].. very very []. square.

Same really. The interesting thing about this thread tough is that is shows that the drug war is a lostcause. When you have to resort to mass forced medication and vast prisons for junkies as well as a giant sprawling infrastructure to deal with blood tests and the rest you may as well submit to the fact that it isnt worth it. No government will ever implement this because the war on drugs isnt about morality or the nanny state.

Dude I have nothing against drugs im just toying with a scenario here. I dont do thempersonally but thats not out of scorn. Psilocybin acts on the serotonin systems. You create a total blockade of the receptors and you wont get high.

We are all playing here. . I don't know how to be serious about stuff like this. A good drug is best taken enjoyed.

I think by now most people should get that you're just discussing the idea of this, not advocating it....though a bit confused are you saying mushrooms don't get people high? I mean they are more known for causing tripping, but much of the time you certainly get a high feeling...of course with a bad trip you won't feel 'high'.
Or do you mean the hypothetical drug would prevent mushrooms from working? lol I get easily confused.

Well I meant that the hypothetical drug would stop any and all psychedelics from working (at least the ones that need access to the serotonin receptors)
That would be terrible....psychedelics are awesome, but I think some anti-depressants already sort of make psychedelics ineffective.....lol Id prefer if LSD ended up in the water supply rather than that hypothetical drug.

That would be bad. Too many witch burnings.

Then again that was not proper LSD actually....but I suppose some people wouldn't handle it so well so shouldn't be in the water supply, but it should be legal.
