People tend to get too complacent about guns, believing if they have one they are invincible but that's not always the case.

Inventor brings a good point about gang banger related murders, and that includes cartels. These are responsible for soaring murder rates in urban areas and concealed carry doesn't impact that type of crime, which is perpetuated against members of gangs, not the general public.

As far as protecting the random person targeted in a crime like an armed burglary, it might help deter that.

There are other dangers with guns, mostly involving domestic issues and accidents which could be addressed by better education and being sure people know they aren't always as safe as they believe they are with their own weapon. We have seen this played out.

You would think so but not seeing a great deal of evidence that it makes much differnce.

Many criminals are often dumb, they don't think straight. If they want to kill someone they have made up their mind, they don't think much about the death penalty or anything of that nature.

If you live in a high crime area, you live in a high crime area. Maybe you will be able to to shift it around, but criminal are look for any opportunities, if they can't burgle you in your home they look for other ways of doing it.

Follow the trail of murder. You could say, if you wish to know which cities have not addressed their cartel/gang banger issues, just look at the murder rates for cities across the board.

If you know how to use a handgun, you could protect yourself from such robbers but you must have the proper training because a gun battle is more difficult than it looks reenacted on tv.

Also pays to be educated on the laws in your area to avoid situations like this
