The Rump presidency would IMHO be the wormy cherry atop the stinking rotten whipped cream ephemera of present-day America.

I fail to see the big deal since McCain abandoned his opposition to torture after decades of criticizing those who support it, in 2008 in order to secure the Republican vote!
(Bush was too popular to hold accountable)

I hope Trump wins the nomination.
I'm sick of boring and dull Republican candidates running for election, who are just puppets of the upper class.

At the very least Trump will force the establishment to override the primary results and instill their own candidate for the election.
There's no way in hell the establishment and it's backers will allow Trump to have the nomination at all costs.

That too.
He's actually engaging everyone, a bit by accident.

There is talk of Trump's candidacy speeding up the break up of the GOP.
A lot of die hard conservatives and tea party members have truly had it with the current party and it's leadership for being too liberal, centrist, and too cozy with Obama!

They are ready to break up the party to get their way, after the leadership has pushed back against them.

Won't happen, America won't make that mistake again (Carter).

Though if no one wins the 268 electoral votes, the House must elect a president from a ballot made up of the top 3 highest amount of electoral votes.

The Senate then would pick the VP.

It's been a while since the election was thrown into the House.

Going back to McGovern in 1972 actual military service has never inhibited Republicans from criticizing a candidate for lack of patriotism. Will taking on one there their own and a POW be different in this instance?

Bernie Sanders would mop the floor with Trump in the debates, and win in a landslide. Of course, neither of them will ever win their party's nomination.

How can anybody take what Trump said about McCain seriously? How can they?

in light of their repeated violation of their 11th commandment ["thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow republican"] I don't believe the GOP in their heart of hearts, takes it more seriously than a cold Machiavellian heart could take it.

I think I'll move to the Philippines ...

Is it ok if i find McCain contemptible because of his bellicose nature and the way that he thrust sarah palin into the limelight?

Oh yeah, and for being one of the Keating 5.

You mean like my own dear senator Al Franken?

"I have tremendous respect for McCain but I don’t buy the war hero thing. Anybody can be captured. I thought the idea was to capture them. As far as I’m concerned he sat out the war."

I don't care for McCain's politics, but define War Hero.He survived, that was something.Nobody plans on being captured.Trump doesn't value what the survivors of the Bataan death march and other POW's endured.

To me everyone that serves honorably is a hero.
