This song pretty much states the fear of most christians. On the CD there is and intro that says "The number on cause of atheism is christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle, that is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

DC Talk is a well respected christian music group and this song expresses one of their biggest fears. The audio is not the greatest but you should be able to make it out. Hope you get something out of it, not all christians are blatantly hypocritical, just human.

Here are the lyrics to the above song incase anyone cares:

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips
Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle.
That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

Is this one for the people? Is this one for the Lord?
Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford?
You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains
Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame
Cause I see the trust in their eyes
Though the sky is falling
They need Your love in their lives
Compromise is calling

What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?

What if I stumble, what if I fall?
You never turn in the heat of it all
What if I stumble, what if I fall?

Father please forgive me for I can not compose
The fear that lives within me
Or the rate at which it grows
If struggle has a purpose on the narrow road you've carved
Why do I dread my trespasses will leave a deadly scar
Do they see the fear in my eyes? Are they so revealing?
This time I cannot disguise all the doubt I'm feeling

What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?

What if I stumble?
Everyone's got to crawl when you know that
You're up against a wall, it's about to fall
Everyone's got to crawl when you know that

I hear You whispering my name [You say]
"My love for You will never change" [never change]

What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?

What if I stumble, what if I fall?
You never turn in the heat of it all
What if I stumble, what if I fall?
You are my comfort, and my God

Is this one for the people, is this one for the Lord?

God is evil, here is the evidence.

"God": Then here is the proof you seek. [shoots Kirk with a lightning bolt]

As a former Christian (Calvinist actually), I don't think I chose to deconvert. Religion was a conforting thing to me for a while, but when I started having doubts I began obsessing over it. Around the age of 14 I tried to read the Bible to see if I could reconcile my faith. That was a big mistake. Just reading it gave me an impression of unreality. It read exactly how I would expect a fictional story to read. I think the book of Job was the last straw. The idea that the creator of the universe would need to "test" that his puny little creations had faith in him just struck my as odd.

Even the idea that the creator of the universe would have human-like emotions seems silly to me. When I look at nature, I don't see any evidence of a loving, caring god. I can see beauty, but on closer inspection it is a cold beauty. You realize that all living things only exist through struggle. There is no moral dimension in nature. No evidence of a cosmic battle between good and evil, just struggle and existence.

I didn't really choose to become agnostic/atheist. It just kind of hit me over the head that Christianity was just like any other religion and the Bible was just a book of stories and nothing more.

As a side note, I doesn't make sense to me that people can choose what they believe. They either believe in something or they don't. To me, belief is a reflection of reality. I can't comprehend the idea of willing yourself to believe something. Only evidence can change what I believe.

The Calvinist idea is that only God can make a believer out of someone. A person has no choice in the matter. That's the one part of Calvinistic theology I agree with. It would take a supernatural occurrence for me to convert back to Christianity. There is no way I will ever "will" myself back “into the fold” as Christianity is no longer real to me. Therefore if Christianity is true, I am agnostic because God wants me to be.

Thanks for the continued responses guys.

And yeah, I always wondered about Job. I mean, if God knows all, then why would he need to test job at all?

answer to job question: Satan wanted to test job because he wanted to prove taking everything away from a man will cause him to deny God. God allowed Satan to try.

Do I believe in God? Hmmm ... Perhaps a better question should be for me is "Do I believe God is love and (more importantly) does God love me?". As an Aspagarian, the answer I most often get is "No". I could be wrong, but looking at my life and seeing other people being able to do all of the cool stuff and I get stuck in the corner somewhere ...

So why would God need to prove anything to Satan?
