Those blokes must've been in Heaven. As soon as we were born, we were set to work 24 hours a day, didn't get paid at all, and had nothing to eat. We had no home, no family, no parents at all to beat us to sleep, and no rolled-up newspapers to be beaten to sleep with! We had no concept of lakes, roads, rooms, corridors, nor shoeboxes. Kids today have no idea how easy they have it - they should check their privilege!

Fnord, you were living in luxury. Aye when I was growing up, we had it tough!

We had to work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and the pay mill owner for permission to come to work.

So you should check your privilege!

Luxury! Sheer luxury! At least you had food to eat. We used to dream of eating dust but we couldn't afford any. We had to get up 5 hours before we went to bed and we didn't have a bed neither. And we had to beat ourselves to sleep with our bare hands because we coulnd't afford a stick. Now you check your privilege!

Pfeh! We had our hands tied behind our backs so that we wouldn't exceed the union quotas, and they were never untied long enough for us to give each other a decent beating, much less beat ourselves! And if we were lucky, our legs would be untied long enough to deliver just one swift kick to our neighbor before we were locked in a trunk and thrown into the river! We had to walk back to the mill on the river bottom before our shifts started or we'd lose our daily ration of filth! And what lovely filth it was; all maggoty and smelly and we wore it with pride! So check your privilege, mate!
