the way my life has turned out, I would feel cheated if there was just a big fat nothing waiting for me after all this travail, my brain has led me to hang onto the belief in eternity, like a drowning man hangs onto any available bit of flotsam.

Life has many Deadlines as far as Instructions of what we are to do.
Life is also Life Lines that Spiral out of Lines on Pages Non-Restricting to what comes before.
Some Folks Other Wise who Might Look Forward to Life Look More to Death as A Real Start of tHeir Life.
Some Other Folks make the Best of Now Never Dying as Life Looking Forward to any now as now. Well
Considering Now is all that is it's not really rational to Fear another time but now and that's not rational
either really for Fear other than what comes now in a real Emergency of Flight or Fight is not something
that other Animals Waste their Peace and Harmony on as they understand there is A Cost to Life of doing
that all innately instinctually and intuitively for they are in Tune with their Senses and Feelings as a course
of now that can and will work better than the Illusory Fears in Physiological Responses coming First as we
associate those Physiological Fears with Words to Bring them Back again. There is no need to Worry or Fear
any Illusory Fears that do not apply to now as long as one Finds a way through Bio-Feedback whether that
comes from as Practice of Still Meditation or A Dance of Moving Meditation in Flow that Leaves all illusory
Fears behind including any Fear of Death as Death is not something we do in Life when Actually Breathing now
and for those Material Reductionists who think they have whatever Potential or no Potential of Life all Figured out
it's worth noting that Science and Engineering Super Star Stem Majors and Professionals too Like Elon Musk the
"Super Engineer" and Rock Star of Astrophysics Neil DeGrass Tyson as far as Intelligent Designs of Reality as now
Stands, They will not deny a Real Potential that we are living in one of Multiple Potentials in Holographic Simulations as
Designed and Put into Action by a Much More Intelligent Being than us as Perhaps they aren't willing to Name that
God but if some more Advanced Being Created us in a Simulation and Perhaps the Grade to Make to Go Higher is
A Life Full of Giving and Sharing More With others as Love is the Program they want in the 'Video Game' that is us
really there is no reason as far as potential goes why they couldn't keep creating us over and over at Essence in
A Beyond Infinite Numbers of other Simulations in other So-Called UniVerses too. Anyway, the Matrix Series of
Movies is looking more Plausible as we go for True even Neo Might Come Back again at least then according to
the Oracle
of that Movie too.

it doesn't often Happen that much for they practice Climbing and Flying Across a
Full Life Span now and this kind of Intelligence in Emotional Regulation and Sensory
Integration Works a Similar Way for Humans too for if one finds whatever works to allow
them a Practice of Emotional Regulation and Sensory Integration as it's practically impossible to Fear Death

Think of Worry; Voila, Fear Free comes as Real and Loving All of Life Most Naturally Coming Next too but
True; kinda hard to do when one is a Servant to Another Task Master away from all Natural Emotional
Regulation

Integration now too

Or John Gray's joke about the spiritualist philosopher who dies and finds himself in afterlife that just ends up being another place where people are just as clueless as to what's going on, why they're there, etc.

I'm not sure what I think consciousness is or whether it can ever be described in a fully materialist way. I wonder if it's both material and spirit/energy? If so, then part of us does die forever while a spark or soul moves on to something else. This sense of death causes me both a sense of fear and also strange freedom or wonder at the same time.

I also feel some sense of fear aside from my beliefs just as a physical living thing that wants to survive; it's very instinctive.

IMHO there is absolutely nothing to fear of death, even if one thinks one has "too many things left to do" in their present lifetimes, as there is an incalculably greater array of things to do when one is no longer on the earth plane, and plenty of other people to "carry on," so to speak.

I find I have a way of almost ignoring it, as if it's an unknown, and my own spiritual practices seem to focus around avoiding the possibility of getting spiritually and morally destroyed by circumstances in this life and then making sure, assuming the high likelihood that I'll be back, that I do whatever I can to set myself up for e better run next time.

That outlook is also in a way an admonition against things like suicide - ie. I'd rather have the problems I have as an adult who has a fighting chance of working his way through them rather than be a kid again, with the same problems, and over and above that also have a world full of peers and adults doing whatever they can to warp my perspectives to conform to whatever is useful to them for me to think, believe, identify as, etc..

My fear of death is connected to those who will mourn me and suffer if I should die now. Without that I would be much more relaxed about my own death.

I find it interesting that the late Christopher Hitchens compared the Christian view of Heaven to a kind of "celestial North Korea"...

Plenty of atheists and agnostics have egos that are "higher than their own little life"




Arrogant people come in a wide variety of political parties and religions. Many arrogant people are not religious.

I am not afraid to die, as long as it is a distant, something far off that may happen some day. Biologically, however, my body would resist to the end any sort of incident or situation in which I might die, and that can result in fear and panic. And should death come closer, I might change my mind. Or not. We never really know until we get there.

I don't have a problem not knowing what happens after death. I can live with the mystery of life and the mystery of death. The trick for me is to live the questions.

Having been a hospice nurse for years and watching people face an immanent death, it is generally my observation that people with strong religious beliefs or spiritual foundations (regardless of what kind) tend to have a death that is more gentle and peaceful. And conversely, people with strong anti-religious convictions have lots of angst and conflict. But this is in general and certainly not universal. I have never had an autistic patient in hospice, but it seems reasonable to me, as some have posted, that someone with autism would face death much more realistically than others.

Are you afraid to die?

I'm afraid that I'm not afraid to die. I'm too impulsive and depressed which is a dangerous combo.

I'm afraid of the process of dying. I watched both my mother and father go through a horrible, lengthy period of decay and death. I don't want to go through that! As far as the great beyond or non-existence, that doesn't concern me in the least.

I am afraid of a physically painful death

No. It will be a grand adventure.
