After giving away territories to the winning sides of wars after the end of WWI which created WWII it was decided it's a good idea not to do that.
The Zionist terrorist/colonists blew up British people then went on to remove 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and land. They even blew up Jewish Holocaust survivors who the British were deporting on boats. Mass murdering, dragging people through the streets with vehicles and raping women. These are acts of war. The British took weapons away from Palestinians and had armed the colonists.
Israel then started more wars in 1956 and 1967 stealing more land as was planned. Since the mid 70's the whole world including Palestinians have agreed to settle the conflict but the US have been blocking it on behalf of Israel.
