Case in point, I'm an Android nut. Android is not 'black box' software, especially not as I choose to run the OS. I maintain both my own access to the hardware & Google security patches on my phone, in fact I'm updating it today. You won't see much advertising on my devices for example. You also won't see much malware or indeed, much of any 'tampering'.

Nevertheless most of the world insists on the IT security supremacy of iPhones. Do I deny this at this point? No, it is a foregone conclusion since they've been too broadly integrated into society; plainly a translucent box or a black box may contain roughly equivalent code performing 99% of the same functions day to day. In a civilized environment without a partisan format war, we can work with both.

I have been a PC user for almost 20 years & I just pitched an iPhone application to my company. Wish me luck.

I'm in total awe :hail:

This "Russian ninja hackers" talk is a distraction. The main issue with the machines (and not-coincidentally the main suspects in this latest US election) are the manufacturers & owners of the voting machines. Being air gapped just means a few guys running around with usb sticks or w/e updating the machines (which happened the day before the US vote). Obsolete software/hardware is also no protection if the would-be criminals have the specs, the source code and valid signature/encryption keys to hand.

Does that not mean that the majority suddenly disagrees with the outcome or are you disputing registration numbers?

I could tell you where to find the best instructions & hardware for bulk production of said malicious USB sticks.

You are welcome to get watch listed for questioning the legitimacy of the election or continue to insist on the best possible way to hack the next one. Important work as far as I can extrapolate the actions of a panopticon.

On the other hand, we have entirely too much data mining going on to ever possibly miss real election fraud anymore. If Republicans were telling the truth here, it would be national news, that's just a computational inevitability.

None of which require a "script-kiddie" level of IT understanding to be aware of, being infomation most people with even a minimal understaning of computers know...Obsolete software\hardware also means vulnerabilities are better known (to both sides) but also allows easier access for the "bad actors" to materials on which to run tests - One of the reasons people are told to ensure they have the latest version, rather than outdated one, of software products, is to prevent\minimise this risk to their systems.

In 2016, Hillary was advised to challenge the results in some of these states, precisely because of the results from the electronic voting machines:
Quote:
Hillary Clinton is being urged by a group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers to call for a recount in three swing states won by Donald Trump, New York has learned. The group, which includes voting-rights attorney John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, believes they’ve found persuasive evidence that results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania may have been manipulated or hacked.

As one of the people (Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Michigan and Director of Michigan’s Center for Computer Security & Society) referenced in the article stated:
Quote:
Here’s one possible scenario. First, the attackers would probe election offices well in advance in order to find ways to break into their computers. Closer to the election, when it was clear from polling data which states would have close electoral margins, the attackers might spread malware into voting machines in some of these states, rigging the machines to shift a few percent of the vote to favor their desired candidate. This malware would likely be designed to remain inactive during pre-election tests, do its dirty business during the election, then erase itself when the polls close.

Quote:
Much more needs to be done to secure America’s elections, and important new safeguards could be put in place by 2018. States still using paperless voting machines should replace them with optical scan systems, and all states should update their audit and recount procedures. There are fast and inexpensive ways to verify (or correct) computer voting results using a risk-limiting audit, a statistical method that involves manually inspecting randomly selected paper ballots. Officials need to begin preparing soon to make sure all of these improvements are ready before the next big election.

Yeah. It was the data scientists and IT guys that saw it earlier than most and smelled a rat this time too. The anomalies this time are so huge and bizarre, only wilful ignorance could make people see anything else.

What I find most curious here is that those who claim to believe there was no fraud are so vocal about preventing\denying the chance to have the claims tested...You would think they would be happy to have the claims tested in court so they could use the result to hammer Mr Trump even more, as well as to try and cause his supporters to leave him.

The only rat I smelled was elected already.

But the results haven't been confirmed yet... :P

This is because we can serialize memory cards & any data transfers for that matter. Scanners go 'beep'. These are rudimentary machines in order to ease the process of digital security audits, not to let the robbers in.

Also, there are no robbers. Being denied a fascist utopia is a blessing in disguise for anyone dumb enough to wish for it.

Well, the people who want to believe it.

2017, Venezuela: Smartmatic director says election was tampered with, which was able to occur because the systems were not audited and did not have supervisors from all parties present at every stage through the election and counting.

It's a good thing that there were Democrat and Republican observers allowed to constantly monitor everything this year...

Before counting mail-in ballots, Trump was up phenomenally in contested states.

So, doesn't logic suggest, if the machines were rigged, that Trump is the recipient of fraudulent votes?

Why would the riggers allow Biden to lose so badly?

If, but only if. Since the claims of fraud are utterly unsubstantiated all of the theories based on them amount to Donald Trump fan fiction. Maybe they're emotionally cathartic but they're not relevant to the real world.

Liberals aren't the ones wracking their brains trying to invent creative excuses for why their candidate didn't lose. I hope all this snarky attitude you're spewing helps calm your feelings so that you can eventually accept the logical reality that the guy with more votes who won more states and more electoral college votes has actually won.
