Any objections to this?:

Those people are usually funnier than cops, so I'd say you're in the clear. There also aren't 13 stripes on that one.

Probably a better pick than cops these days, but there are lots of other ways to do so. Still technically a derivative, so nope.

I thought Himmler was eviler than Hitler.

Maybe in the sense that Darth Vader Was more evil than Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine. But in both cases, the subordinate was serving the master.

Point of order, in no reasonable interpretation of the Star Wars saga was Darth Vader more evil than Emperor Palpatine.

On a more serious note, I think the rhetoric that Trump and his MAGAs are just like the nazis is dangerous in a "boy who cries wolf" fashion.

If you wind the clock back, you will find many harsh rhetorical statements about Mitt Romney and George Bush. Nowadays both men seem to have found a resurgence in popularity among Democrats by not being Donald Trump. Similarly if we had for example Richard Spencer being a major political force in American politics, Donald Trump would look very good by comparison.

The problem with the left constantly attacking Trump for his nationalist tendencies is that the actually concerning stuff gets lumped in with the pretty innocuous stuff. For example in the current election fiasco: filing lawsuits and refusing to concede is delusional but not dangerous. The results haven't been certified yet, and candidates are well within their rights to legally contest the results. Claiming there is widespread fraud in the elections is significantly more concerning, but in the context of Trump's general break with reality is not as concerning as it would be coming from a different politician. Not working on the transition yet is bad form, but not unprecedented and not an indicator of anything more than sour grapes. If Trump actually decided to defy the election results once they're certified that would be a major problem, but we're not there and I sincerely doubt we'll get there.

At best seriously comparing Trump to the Nazi's is an abuse of the slippery slope fallacy. At worst it's disingenuous name-calling. Mostly, it's just ignorance of the appalling horribleness that was the Nazi party.

The right has its own version of this, where they compare democrats to Stalin. It's also bad and dangerous.

I had a soft warning when I said that supporting Trump was no different than liking Hitler still. I got informed it was not the time to do that now and was asked to not make that comparison again on here. 8)

There is a god/goddess, after all, then.

The problem with your statement was, you were implicitly calling Trump supporters, Nazis.
And by the sounds of it, it was a gross generalisation, which is against the rulz. 8)

"All Trump supporters are Nazis", is a no-no.
I think that is an example of "Dog Whistling".

A very insulting/immoderate statement.
I don't know how you get away with something like that.
And I actually don't understand what you are talking about.

Exactly how am I personally complicit in "a system that kills people".
And who am I killing?
It doesn't sound like me, at all.

Then they need to add to the rule "No Nazi/Hitler comparisons" since it seems like anything can be added to the rules subtly without knowing.

As I understand it, the issue isn't the specific term used for the comparrison, but rather the generalisation regarding the group you were discussing - Statements along the lines of "All members of group 'A' are <insert term>" are frowned upon.

I don't like them outside the realm of politics or for irrelevant things (yes Hitler was vegetarian but for health reasons not because he gave a damn about animal rights)

But when it's for people on the right who lock kids in cages? Who want to ignore a democratic (small d) vote?

Let's remember that all their reasons to oppose socialism = because they keep comparing it to Stalinism.

they compare it stalinism because they are bloodymindedly against relieving the misery of the working class. just like magas calling people like me a nazi, not because it makes any sense at all but just as a crude club against me and mine.

We live in a country where people are being killed for dissident views on this subject. Why are you in denial of this fact?

This is not a "dog whistle", it is a fact that extreme right is extremely violent.

If you don't want me to think that you are a neonazi, don't act insulted by the assertion that those people are a problem. It's very simple. I'm not here to generalize you, I'm telling you what is happening in this country.

There are a LOT of reluctant yet complacent Republicans here. They rolled over & voted in the interest of neonazis to consolidate power for their side.

Saying otherwise would be a lie. Trump courted votes from these people directly. In no uncertain terms are Republicans now unofficially associated with neonazis. Downplaying the seriousness of this scenario is a PROBLEM.
