So that means they lost then if they didn't get what they fought for. :?

Then how about the Aleut, the Apache, the Arapaho, the Blackfeet, the Cherokee, the Cheyenne, the Chickasaw, the Chippewa, the Choctaw, the Colville, the Comanche, the Cree, the Creek, the Crow, the Delaware (Lenape), the Hopi, the Houma, the Inupiat, the Iroquois, the Kiowa, the Lumbee, the Menominee, the Navajo, the Osage, the Ottawa, the Paiute, the Pima, the Potawatomi, the Pueblo, the Puget Sound Salish, the Seminole, the Shoshone, the Sioux, the Tlingit-Haida, the Tohono O'odham, the Tsimshian, the Ute, the Yakama, the Yaqui, the Yuman, and the Yup'ik?

Spartakus, Hus and countless peasant rebellions?

White supremacy?
Toxic White Male Supremacy, perhaps.  Women are targets of the Anti-Woke Crowd, too.

Cis het male too.

A specific kind of cis het, NT, masculine WASP (or honestly in America I think we can just say gentile, non-hispanic) guy. Neither too young nor too old (unless of course he's a rich politician for the old bit). Nobody else. And the top of that? The upper class.

Woke stuff doesn't necessarily tackle the class issue but at least it wants to open it up to the rest of us. And imo tackling ableism requires a look at how the current economy works through discarding certain people.

I don't get what's so special about slave owners esp those who fought for slavery that they need statues. Or colonialists. I'm not against statues of old dead white guys. But there are plenty of inventors, artists etc who deserve statues more than these guys do. Some of whom (many of whom due to how history is!) are cis het/hetish white guys. Or what about the white guys who fought against slavery rather than for it?

Same (but more important) with rape/non-consensual sex/blurred lines. 1 in 6 cis guys experience non-consensual sex/sexual assault as the victim at some point in their lives - usually in childhood. Shouldn't we be standing up for these guys/boys rather than for rapists? I feel like if we push for a yes means yes mentality, that will happen. And if we fight against stereotypes like 'males are always up for it'.

I want a Turing statue. I know he was gay (and arguably autistic?) so it might be seen as 'woke' but he was also a white guy. More important than that though? He was a hero, not rewarded in his lifetime for his heroism, treated horribly after the war.

Many peasant rebellions have either failed or achieved unexpected results.  Only the successful ones are lauded -- the Amistad and Caine mutinies, for example.

He definitely deserves a statue.

How about Ada Babbage?

Wikipedia wrote:
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace (née Byron; 10 December 1815 – 27 November 1852) was an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine.  She is believed by some to be the first to recognize that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation, and to have published the first algorithm intended to be carried out by such a machine.  As a result, she is often regarded as the first to recognize the full potential of computers and as one of the first computer programmers.

Let's see, would this be a good example. When my parents won, the school staff became afraid to even punish and discpline me because they were afraid of my parents. I didn't know this until I was in my 30's when my mom told me they became leery. They basically acted like my parents were bullies and I was the manipulative child and I had everyone fooled. That was how it sounded to me anyway. I just thought "gee, even then people thought I had bad intentions." Nothing different than what I had encountered on here ten years back. I wouldn't be surprised if this all started in 1986 when I started to walk and bam people started to assume bad intentions.

This is the same mistake that the Toxic White Male Movement is making.

Whichever side "wins" will likely have achieved a pyrrhic victory.

The comparison to toxic white male and the alt right they are part of is apt.
Unfortunately from their of view probably not. From my point of view the loss of precious things.

Guess who has won each time?

I can't think of any time when people tried to fight for equal rights and lost. My parents fought for me too growing up and guess who won? Them. There is no way I would have won if I was in this on my own and had no one advocating for me and if I had kept my mouth shut than complaining and whining about how I am treated different and whining about how I wish I were normal. I had a mouth, my parents had ears, they knew how to get help. They had money. They had privilege.

It is beyond equal rights, it is about equity now. Roughly that means guaranteeing equality of results rather than results being the product of equal opportunity.

I hope pedophile rights are not inevitable.

Beyond that extreme example to actual good causes the inevitable can be delayed leading to avoidable pain and death. A civil war now with all sorts of weapons of mass destruction is a thing one should try and avoid if at all possible.

What rights do pedophiles want to have? The right to dingle kids and have relationships with them? The rights to look at child porn? No one has these rights so why should they?

Or do they want rights to getting medical treatment for their illness without being judged and reported, rights to have their illness be treated as a medical condition and treated as a diagnoses than stigmatized so they can be allowed to have medical treatment and be allowed to live their normal lives and right to employment? This I agree with.

No one will solve deeply-rooted social issues on a command "now!"
It will require generations of meticulous untangling before the goal of really equal opportunity appears in sight.
Without equal opportunity, equal outcome is a lie.

I mean - a long road ahead, shortcuts won't work.

I am all for people accused of doing stuff with kids having the same presumption of innocence.
Presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law is a right of every defendant; but when it comes to the Court of Popular Opinion, the merest whisper of a suspicion of criminal sexual assault against a minor -- or even the rumored intent to criminally assault a minor -- is more than enough to inspire a lynch-mob mentality against the alleged perpetrator.  Even when the defendant is declared not guilty, he or she can face decades of suspicion and ostracism, even from his or her own family members.

Embezzle millions from a Fortune-500 company?  Pfft!  A few years in prison, at most.

Hug a crying child who is not your own?  Mandatory counseling and rehab, registration as a sex offender, limited opportunities for employment and housing, and spending the remainder of your life being associated with the most vile and filthy of sexual offenders -- pedophiles.

Just as long as science backs up that kids cannot consent and are not capable or consenting to adults, the pro contact pedophiles will always lose just like how HAES will always lose because science keeps backing up how surgeries are impossible on big bodies and more risky and it's harder to put them on medication due to their big overweight size and the fact it increases health issues, just look at My 600 Lbs Life.

Only thing they may win in is having binge eating being taken as seriously as anorexia and there is already treatment for binge eating disorders. And another thing they may win in is getting decent respect from people and body size should not even be the bare minimum for earning respect and nor should it be the reason to prove they don't deserve respect. Another thing they may win in is ending fat shaming in the media and stop making them out to be a joke on TV. But they will never win against medical information on obesity. That is not fat shaming.

Pushing for informed consent is 'woke'.

Kids can't give informed consent.

They can't desire sex.

They can say the word 'yes' under pressure or by being tricked. (Assuming the sick bastard isn't raping a baby). But it isn't actual consent. It's still rape.

So if anything we need more wokeness to protect us from the nonces. A better understanding of what consent is.

Also: the more you see women you fancy as your equals rather than 'pretty little things' to be objectified, the less likely you are to liken them to kids, the less likely an actual kid is a potential sexual partner. Infantalising women or seeing them as sexy but not sexual is a thing of the past which feminists hate and imo it's creepy.

BTW this scaremongering about LGBT people being nonces has been around since before legalisation of homosexuality. It's BS. They're not welcome in our community.

On Twitter I was seeing people say "Back in the 1980's, people thought I was crazy when I said pretty soon pedophiles will want to be accepted just like how gay people are wanting to be."

To me this is veiled homophobia right here in the 1980s. I at first took these comments literal but now I realize "wait, are they actually saying they were opposed to homosexuality and thought they were being snowflakes by pushing acceptance onto to other people so they used pedophiles as a snarky argument for wanting to be accepted as well?"

It's no different than saying "if we let people marry their own sex, then soon people will want to marry animals and have sex with them."

What kind of strawman victim complex is this? From the very premise it is trying to set the argument from the "woke" that whatever culture they are in (I assume the USA) is the worst most backwards country in the world, which is a total misrepresentation of their argument. The arguments are that there are flaws, it does not need to be total worst to want to do better, and trying to teach history that is not the whitewashed version being taught for so long is not just to just get people to hate the country.

This is what I can't get about people on the right, they claim to be against people making themselves out as victims, but then have to twist the position of people they don't like into being an attack on everything they are. Suddenly a call for black lives mattering becomes an attack on white people or the police. Or a gay character in a cartoon becomes an attack on families.

If you are a decent person, you know mob justice is never just. So never join a mob. Ever.

Even if you agree with the mob. If you are a decent person, you know betraying friends is wrong. So if a friend or a colleague does something you disagree with, write them a private note. Don’t be a snitch. Any mob that comes for them will come for you.

Really think about what this point is saying. It is telling people not to asses what their beliefs are, to just use the excuse that they think that they are a good person, to never think about if something should change, never support an activist movement. For an example, what if your uncle took a child bride, you might disapprove of it, but you should just write them a private note, but not "snitch" on them, that would be bad.

You could apply this mindset to a whole bunch of things, and it is just so gross. All about creating echo chambers and always fighting against progress by relying on emotional reasons that it would just be inconvenient to think something could maybe wrong. It is weaponised ignorance.
