My aunt spent her youth wearing skimpy clothes and dancing hip hop, and ended up marrying a brute who forced the veil on her the moment she married him.

*shrugs*

I used to have three drinking buddies of middle eastern persuasion back in the 1990s who slept around took drugs and got smashed on alcohol every night. All got married to Aussie girls who loved to party but after marriage they made the wives wear hijab and cook and clean for their parents

I debated with one of these girls and she was convinced hubby would change over time. He didn't, Now the kids are clones of the father.

I heard that George Clooney cuts his hair with a Flowbee. That's rather hard to believe, but who knows. Perhaps he bought the one I sold on eBay years ago.

i used a flowbee for many years but the danged thing would get clogged and stop working, and i'd have to tear it a part and clean it out and oil it. one year [2013] it broke for the last time and i said to hell with it and just let nature take its course down my back. haven't looked back since.

It's not so much that I looked for conservative men, but that most of the men I meet anywhere irl are just more
(or much more) conservative than I am. Very early on, I came up with a few points where I really don't want friends who disagree (but I have a few, we just aren't as close). And there are a few points (some political, some not) that, when dating, are just complete deal-breakers.

Liberal/progressive girls are 'good girls" but want a "bad boy" in bed

Oh okay. But I thought that liberals thought of conservative people as prudish. So if they do, why would they think of conversative guys as bad boys therefore?

It's biological

the article does claim bad boys may have better genes, but the only specific example given of a bad boy is a porn producer. Well I guess Larry Flint did have some conservative leanings :)

If anything, I am repulsed by conservative men.

Every liberal woman I have known has felt the same.

If I had a woman who turned MAGA on me, I would leave her.

I’m mostly a “liberal progressive”—but I don’t buy into all the ideology of it.

I wouldn’t be able to get along with someone who lives and breathes “woke.”

FWIW, I've never had an issue with politics in a relationship, and I tend to date women who hate my politics. I think people in general overstate the importance of them, when in reality if you like someone, you'll adapt.

My thoughts exactly! Those men might have some really good qualities in the women's eyes that make up for their different political stands.

If a left-of-center woman dates a conservative man, it is despite his conservatism, not because of it. I have seen far too many conservative men, especially Trumpsters, complaining about being unable to find women who will date them. Liberal and leftist women are less likely to date someone on the opposite end of the political spectrum than conservative and right-wing women.

I've seen younger conservatives talking about how "intolerant" the left is for wanting nothing to do with them romantically: https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2021/07/12/political-discrimination-as-civil-rights-struggle/

Note that despite the grandiose title, the author's first and most repeated example of "political discrimination" against the right is the fact that left-of-center women in college are overwhelmingly uninterested in dating conservative and especially Trump-supporting men.
Conservative men developing a victim complex because women refuse to sleep with them? Perish the thought.

Where do people near the exact center of the spectrum, such as myself, stand in this regard?

Are we going to be seen as peacemakers by both sides, or is it going to be one side thinking we're socialists and the other thinking we're fascists?

I wouldn't mind having a run-of-the-mill conservative as a lover----but if she's a MAGA hat-wearing person, I wouldn't bother with her.

Just like I wouldn't want to date a hard-line Communist.

There are two points I would like to add:

1. The majority of people in the free world are not in full lock-step with a specific ideology or political party. People can be conservative in some issues, and liberal in others. People of the same party can disagree (AOC vs. Joe Manchin, or Donald Trump vs. Liz Cheney). In the U.S., most people, myself included, aren’t registered with a political party.

2 and most important: People can change their views at any time.

even I would not want to date a Fauci-Hating Republican or QAnon Type.
